Trento is a surprise package. A city of approx 120 000 based on education and finance this city is located on the river Adige, a major trading route with Europe in earlier time, and completely surrounded by snow covered mountains. Spectacular.
We left Colfosco on a near perfect day and as I think I mentioned we travelled north to almost the Austrian border and then south to Trento. ...

... contains paintings by Caravaggio - the fancy shopping streets which were not very backpacker friendly but did house the offices and factory of my hero Velentino!! Overlooking the whole Tridente area is a lovely park called Trinita dei Monti where I ate lunch and took in the sights and sounds of this marvellous city - pity I was interrupted by the horrible selfie stick and flower sellers. ... twisted alleys of Old Bolzano, some a bit gritty and dirty, others alive with folks out enjoying the evening. Across a bridge to the north where it seems that the city quickly starts to fade. I pause on a bench on the bridge, pull out my guitar and ponder on this amazing journey I've been on for the last nearly 2 months... Back in town, I hear music coming from an internal alley/gallery. I go inside, and find 3 ...

Day 286 4 hrs, 4.4 kms I do stop in a fairly large city on the way. I do want to get a better feel for this unique Italian-Austrian region. It feels strange to get off a train and immediately find myself in a town--almost feels like I'm cheating or something! It also feels strange to walk block after block, and the city just continues and continues... I've gotten used to villages that take 10 to 15 minutes to cross. Finally ...
