Australia Zoo, Queensland

We have spent a few more days relaxing on the beach and making the most of the sunshine coast. We spent one day at Noosa Heads and another at Coloundra, where we decided to have a beach BBQ. So we bought food and went to the sea for a while and when we decided to have lunch, the minute the meat hit the BBQ it started to rain! Gigs kept cooking in the rain and we then ended up ...

Jumping out of planes and braving the depth

... t be more ready to throw myself out. When we dropped it was like nothing i had ever felt before, it really didn't occur to me i was falling through the air and in fact i didnt have much time to think anything. He decided i was compofrtable enough to give me a couple flips and turns and we did some cool tricks when he opened the parachute. Anyone with a sense of adventure just has to do it, and ...

Kilcoy

... Our stay at Rebecca and Jason's house was a lovely reunion and a boozy get together of laughter and food. And to top it all, we had a lovely two week old baby who quietly slept through it. Saturday saw a tour of the area, taking in the Cheese Factory, wineries and lunch at the Carolie Hotel. Whilst we were at Kingaroy, we had a second look at the malfunctioning generator. Jason being ...

Crikey mate, what a ripper of a day!

... knew it our time was up and we had to let Foxy return to his three companions in the off display enclosure. It was the most awe inspiring experience and it felt like such a priviledge to be in the company of this truly magnificent cat. It's good to know too that most of the money we paid goes to cheetah conservation projects in Africa so that there is hope that generations to come will be able to appreciate these beautiful but highly threatened ...

Home to a jungle!

... shops and arty spaces). On the way home we stumbled upon the South American themed chocolate shop that my friend Jane had recommended, and made a plan to get back there with the girls that afternoon! After having our goodies with coffee at home, we headed out to catch the bus (no. 69) to the Eiffel Tower. It was raining lightly, we'd done plenty of walking the day before, and I'd read in a book that catching bus no. 69 was like having a very cheap bus tour of some of the prettiest ...

Crikey!

... were great. There was a small Asian section with a couple elephants and a tiger, but this was not as impressive as most American zoos. We still haven't seen a Tasmanian Devil. I'm starting to think that they don't really exist, and that all these zoos just make enclosures and signs and say "he's kind of shy, so you might not see him". It had similar (great, but we've already done it) areas for feeding and petting kangaroos as we've seen elsewhere. Overall, the zoo was very pretty ...

... Cup Rugby. It may have escaped the majority of the American TV watching public that the Rugby Union Championship has been going on in France and Wales for the last several days, but let be the first to tell you that it is a highly popular point of conversation here in Australia. Especially given the merciless 3-91 thrashing Japan received at the hand of the Wallabies. Apart from the Scotland-Portugal match and a lot of Internet ...
