... They've done an amazing job building a woman's shelter in India all with local materials and knowledge in the little Himalayan foothills. Back to Hania. It's fun driving in an ancient city. Alleys are narrow, cobblestone is slippery and drivers are, like everywhere, impatient and often idiotic. If you use a signal it's a sign you're from out of town. Headlights on the highway, foolishness. Double solid indicates someone will be passing in your ...

It was a bridge too far then but not this time, 40 years later. This time we were staying in Hania which is the closest city to the Gorge. We booked a round trip bus from our hotel. Although the pickup time was earlier than a regular bus we were guaranteed ...

    ... lots of tourists.

Day 2 we booked our trip to the Samaria Gorge. The Samaria Gorge is a very full day adventure which deserved it's very own post.

Day 3 was a quiet one. After our day down the Samaria Gorge we creaked down to breakfast and then went beach exploring. We headed out to Stavros Beach where Zorba the Greek was filmed directed by and starring Anthony Quinn. It was an interesting movie but the place is even ...
