Second weekend arrives and thinking I’ll push the boundaries and go a bit further out. I ended up getting the metro (basically like a monorail, air-conditioned and pristine) down to another area in town, 16p each way, cheap than a tuctuc, quicker than a tuctuc, and more importantly, cooler than a tuctuc (heat cooler, not cool kid cooler). So I went and checked out another street and a massive park area ...
... to get in first to get a seat, on one carriage they did not open the doors for ages so someone was trying to cut his way in. On these carriages the seats are 'unreserved' but also they often over book the available seats, so that a 200 seat carriage may have 500 people in it: so it is everyone for themselves - bearing in mind that many people are there for the night, some with children, but apparently it is priced so ...
... my ankles. A few bob he receives, which is thankfully enough to send him skipping happily off into the twilight.
Another close shave with dodgy doggies comes a little later on and this time, I'm rescued by a water truck delivery dude who drives me around for a bit and sorts me out with a free cup of chai. He didn't want anything except to show me to his friends and his mum.

... I left my house at 12:30 PM EST Friday, and arrived in my hotel about 4:30 AM India time - we are about 9.5 hours ahead of US Eastern time, over here. My trip went from:
Tampa to DC/Dulles
DC to Frankfurt
Frankfurt to Bangalore.
Actually the Bangalore leg was diverted, which I'll get to in a moment.
The DC to Frankfurt flight was a United Airlines flight, full of Euro-businesspeople, ...
