I got up at 5am on the 14th and arrived in Guatemala City at 5am on the 15th. First, I got the bus to San Crisobal de las Casas and as there was a very long wait of 5 hrs or so, I went to another city nearer sitll to the Guatemalan border called Comitan de Dominguez. I was not bothered about missing the world cup final and walked to a combi garage 5 blocks away. I am determined to get to my next destination on schedule. ... it was either that or the chicken bus - which meant that when the bus was three hours late the next day, there wasn't much we could do about it except sit in a hammock on the hostel's roof and read for a while. As I am currently reading 'War and Peace' it meant I was able to get through about 0.01% of that ridiculosuly long book! USA (or Philadelphia): No one says hello. Living the city, one must avoid eye contact and walk briskly to wherever one has to go.
Guatemala: There is no set time to meet or deadlines to uphold. Everything is laissez-faire and up in the air.
USA: Everything is scheduled and punctuality is key. I prefer things to run on time and to be on schedule.

... sausage one and Cara's arroz pudding calientes. Also had a bit of Myriam's frozen banana covered with choc and nuts (yums!). Saw lots of colourful fruits and veggies (pacaya was an odd veggie), arts and crafts - got myself a nice little bag for my purse and phone (from 85 qtz to 60 qtz, good negotiating!).
