When construction on this place is finished (it looks like it's been constantly ongoing for years) it's going to make money hand over fist. My dorm is furthest from anyone. Semuc Champey is a beautiful park known for its natural tiered turquoise pools surrounded by limestone. Although the hostel we are staying at offers tours to the park, we opted to do it ourselves today. Our hostel feels much more like summer camp than anything else, with its wooden cabins and outdoor bathrooms, El Portal Hostal is located in the middle of a Mayan community in the jungle right beside a fast flowing river.
