Well i flew into Prague yesterday... I was going to write my daily blog but I got to the hotel and was like hmmm i will just put my head down for a nap, then ill go out. Checked in, got into bed and bam... was out until 4 oclock the next morning... Dammit! So that was day one in Prague..
Just about to go out into the city now, should be fun!
More to come...
Wow, what a city...
Prague is absolutely beautiful!
After leaving the hotel at 8, I ventured down to the tram station which luckily is pretty much across the road. Being my first day, I had no idea what I was doing! But after doing my research in Lonely Planet and Rough Guides, it was best to act like I owned the place, like I knew exactly what I was doing. It makes you less of a target for scams and pickpockets. Being one of the best public transport systems in Europe definite...
Had a great day in Prague today, truly is a beautiful city. But before I get to that, last night. I decided my first day in Prague warranted a visit to one of the nightclubs in town. I chose one that had 5 stories, each with a different kind of music. I got there at opening time, so naturally it was dead, which made a person hanging out by himself seem even sadder. But I didn’t let that get to me! I stuck to my guns and rode it out, waiting for the crowd to come to me. For a premium clu...
Praha, Hlavní Mesto Praha, Czech Republic danielmataylor Well a nice quiet day, well so I thought. I woke up quite early, 7 ish… for laundry day. I think I visited the only laundry in all of Prague… and they charge like it too… 156 crown. Its like $5 for both washer and dryer, plus free wifi and drinks…I truly have come to expect a cheap Prague, a part I will come to. Anyway, after washing and drying my few clothes, I came home, changed into more non laundry day clothes and back out the door, ready for a big day of F1...
Well have I got a story for you all. As the wise Samuel L Jackson said in Jurassic Park… hold onto your butts.
Of all the half baked, half witted ideas I have, none have been as stupid as hiring a car and going driving in a foreign country. And it takes me a lot to give up on something, I usually just plug away until I am good at it. But driving in Czech Republic, I was positively glad to give up on this venture. I truly learnt when to give up… anyway, lets start from the ...
Well after yesterdays debacle, I was looking forward to a nice quiet, relaxing day. At 4 oclock in the afternoon, all things are going as planned.
The morning started off good, a light breakfast of Czech bread with cheese and boiled eggs. I headed into town in search of John Lennon’s graffiti memorial. Apparently the idea of peace was big when he died in 1980. It was still communist times, so I guess people were a bit over violence… Anyway, was an easy find, and was quite ...
Today was another nice easy day, but involved a lot of walking, mostly up a very steep hill. I went to Petrin park, meaning a rocky hill. I don’t think the guy who named the park was in his job for very long, as there were very little rocks. At only 312 metres above the city, it sounds easy. Well an ex-Navy, unfit young man struggled, and strategically chose spots to ‘look at the view’. Seriously, this hill was steep! I did later find out that there was a cable car taking pu...
Prague, Hlavní Mesto Praha, Czech Republic danielmataylor After a huge night enjoying insanely cheap beers, I woke up to a new day, a new adventure. Today I was going to find the infamous U Flenku - a brewery of a beer that has been produced in this one spot since 1490. After walking around for about an hour, I found another Aussie who was glad to help me on my quest to keep destroying my liver.
After finally finding the place, I walked into a medium sized beer hall, complete with accordion playing man and a smoky haze. I felt like I had bee...
For todays adventure I had planned to spend no money and to sit in the park, put on my ipod or read my book and just chill out. Well… after I found out that Parramatta Eels were playing in Sydney tonight I knew only one place in Prague would be playing it - Fat boys pub, the only Australian pub in the country no doubt. I don’t want to get into the story behind getting to the pub, as it would only make some things worse, and I am sorry that certain events transpired. Now that that ...
Prague, Hlavní Mesto Praha, Czech Republic danielmataylor Well it was laundry day again, not very exciting, but I have managed to learn to make a day out of the smallest things. I think this a good talent for a tourist to learn, as sometimes there is either very little to do, or a lot of pleasure to come out of the smallest things.
Laundry took a while, but with free wifi I managed to download all of the shows I had been missing and do some research for what to do with the week ahead. Now, if only I had money to do these things! That’s...

... whitebait and chips, so I interjected. "Hey, I don't really know that much about England, but she says they card here. But I'm sure they should be alright as long as they don't look twelve. I wouldn't ask the bartender beforehand though...I mean from now on. She almost has to card them now if they come in." I flashed a smile at her. The guy huffed, and walked off. I know my life is incredibly exciting...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic langsb... a month and has not seen anyone checking. of course though i had just gotten a bad feeling and sure enough carrie and i were just lucky enough to get stopped byt the police in uniforms asking for tickets so we tried the dumb thing fumbling around in our purses. no luck. so we tried the cooperative thing. nope. then i tried the sympathy thing when he said its only 30 euros thinking we are rich tourists, i ...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic tissnseven... Church, St Nicholas Church and what's a town square without a clock tower? The clock tower also has an astronomical clock, where the bells ring every hour. What else is the Czech Republic for?? BEER...nice and cheap beer! The Lonely Planet recommended a traditional Prague beer hall called Kolkovna. The beer hall is owned by the Pilsner Urquell brewery (one of their most famous brands), so we had to try the pilsner ...
Prague, Czech Republic rbaluyot... all about "the kids from over there". It was about our kids too. It seems that God has pushed us to limit, and we have come out stronger. In the evening, when we finally reached our destination (School in Jicin), we had a traditional Czech dinner of Meat, Dumplings, and Cheese Sauce. We enjoyed some more fellowship time and once again were grateful to go to sleep. -- Submitted by Heidi
Prague, Czech Republic ccbridge... do her job interview. She had just decided to move to Prague from Aussietown, and I was at the forefront of her celebration party. We met again for dessert and coffee, and afterwards walked hand in hand for hours and hours and hours. Our quest for Absinth and chocolate was little more than a cheap visage for the obviously painful fact that we didnt want to let eachother go. We had come so close these few short days, and more now than ever, goodbyes are so bloody hard. Ive ...
Prague, Czech Republic papapeta33... a real size stein. After dinner we wandered around a bit more, looked at a few more shops and then back to our room. We only had a short stay in Prague and I can see that it is a pretty city but I wasn't completely taken with it. Maybe there were too many people there for my liking, but it wasn't my favorite city of our trip. Tomorrow we are getting an early taxi to the airport for a flight to Budapest, which I am looking forward to.
Prague, Czech Republic stug... are still not allowed inside the synagogue with the men? They have these one foot windows that they can hear and peek through...and that corridor was added later. We went to the Jewish cemetary, the dancing building, and then more souvenier shopping. Turn on vacuum, insert money. After checking out at the hotel we were off to the airport, bound for London. Everyone was extremely tired at the airport. The airport wasn't fun. Dinner was a ...
Prague, Czech Republic philvandyk... fans. It looked like we had won in the second half, till a questionable call took away a beautifully executed goal...but, I can always root for Spain I guess. But before all that, we took another easy day, as it was an overcast, lazy Saturday and Jill seemed to be feeling worse. We did go down to the old Jewish quarter and walk around, infiltrating several French tour groups on accident. They were very informative. For instance, I ...
