Freeport, Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago
I decided to take advantage of my paid vacation and spend two weeks in Trinidad and Tobago. My good friend Kevin Fortune, who I met in college, is from Trinidad and was a phenomenal tour guide. I stayed away from computers, cell phones and any reading materials related to the economy and/or the environment.

Port of Spain, Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago mkocian... to get a superb curry dish, with many different varieties. It makes a very pleasant change from latino food. Apart from the food, our tour also took us to two Hindu temples. The first, Waterloo Temple, is quite small but in a good location on a kind of pier in the sea, but most interesting is the story behind it. A lone laborer, when not working, built a temple on the coast. Unfortunately, the coast was privately owned. The government destroyed ...
San Augustin, Trinidad and Tobago phil.aldridge... we did, but still suffered. During the break, I wandered around to see if we couldn't get away from the speakers a bit. We enjoyed the rest of the concert at the hotel's outdoor restaurant with cool beers and hopefully lost only a bit of hearing. The most anticipated event for me was the National Panorama Finals. This was 16 of Trinidad and Tobago's finest Steel Bands competing for the prize. The bands were limited to 100 players and were enough to rock your socks ...
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago annabelle.v... Trinidad is not known as a destination, with most people heading directly for Tobago, but I was bound to disprove that. My first call of duty was to find a place to stay. After shopping around for a nice place, I settled upon a wonderful simple hotel, where I met some locals, and also three medical students, who were doing there residency abroad at the Port-of-Spain hospital. Port-of-Spain is actually an incredible city, with incredible parks, and embassies, and other ...
Port of Spain, Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago dudeonthemove... meer.
Chaquaramas, Trinidad and Tobago sylviaenjeroenHere I am in an English speaking country. I have not been to TT since '92 and I don't remember very much. I find myself making a lot of comparisons, but TT is VERY different from CR. I thought they'd be pretty similar and in some ways they are, the laid back life-style and people and the climate... But TT, even though it's a 3rd world ...
POS, Trinidad and Tobago pcvgirl... the next step and with one push of the button started dear Mr. Chug, who also in turn mumbled away with a relaxed tone, spitting his liquid discharge high into the air. by now tom and dom were on board with a sense of uncertainty in their eyes. We checked the sterntube for unusual leaks but all was good, so we cast off our ties to land and attempted to reverse out in to the deeper water. Well I quickly realised that becuase of either the heavey ...
Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago sparrow07Well hear i sit in the middle of the night with my appendages itching from the scratchy sensation of Fiberglass dust that has lodged itself into my skins surface, trying to remember what it was that i have done since i last wrote on the blog. Let me think...i cut off the "bowsprit" and growned down the protruding pieces of glass fiber, tom cut up the interior...damn there goes my left leg itching again...removing parts ...
Chaguramas, Trinidad and Tobago sparrow07"Public transportation in Trinidad is a disaster!" is how my Venezuelan roommate David put it, one recent failed beach attempt. I was un-deterred. Being a genius, I devised to make my own way to the ocean by battling two miles through a road-less section of wild, thick, steep, devil-sweating-hot rainforest north of Port of Spain. Without a compass. Without water. Without a map. Without any knowledge of what animals lived in the rainforest and could kill me. I only knew ...
