... we had parked up and decided to head to the tourist information office in order to find some acommodation for the evening. A local market was on in the town center and almost immediately both Rachel and Mum got side tracked by the "Precious" and Shiny things" like magpies to milk bottle tops we had lost them. My father and I proceeded with the job in hand and went to speak to the lovely woman in the visitors centre. After a hysterical laugh shortly after I had asked what was availible in ...

... south west as you can get in Australia. It's quite a feeling when you fill a vehicle up and the cost is in three figures. But then when you half the price to get it into pounds, its not too bad at all....and about half the price than at home, even in remote towns like this one. We drove to another lighthouse, at a place called Cape Leeuwin. Here the Indian Ocean meets the Souther Ocean. With the high winds the ...

... cheapest seat available, which meant that I had to sleep in a reclining seat instead of a bunk for two nights. I was able to 'stretch out' over two seats and, although I tried several variations of the classic fetal position, I never got very comfortable. The next day, I was pretty tired and tried reading a book, but eventually befriended two Canadian girls. The following night I had another rough night of sleep, and when I ...

... very friendly and made us feel a little unwelcome in their house and then told us they were putting up the rent. Although Ash loved the job she had a lot more responsibility than she realised and as a traveler, it just wasn't feeling right for the kids. As for my job, well, "I'll tell you your roster on Monday" turned out to be Thursday, then Friday. I did get a couple of shifts on the weekend but the money situation had become dire and with the increase in rent Ash ...

Sideways in Margaret River

... It tastes like I imagine squashed worms would taste. After that its onto another two vineyards with very similar ranges of wine. Again the names escape me but this is mostly because their wines were forgetable. The last vineyard is only memorable for the woman who took us through the tasting who was like a mad, old, scary school teacher and who seemed determined to get rid of here backlog of Directors Range wines. Then its a ...

... is that they are surrounded with cliffs. Here we abseiled, or repelled, I'm not really sure of the difference. Either way we were attached to ropes and climbed down the cliffs to the beach. Thanks to Timothy taking me rock climbing I had used a lot of the equipment before and was fairly comfortable with the whole idea. That is, I was comfortable with repelling down a 10 and even 25 meter cliff. However, next came a ...
