We took the high speed train from Venice to Florence. At 300+kph (190 MPH) it's doesn't take long to get someplace. And there's no TSA patdown! Trains leave and arrive on time here. They don't wait if you're late! After arriving and checking into the hotel we went to the Galleria dell' accademia where the original statue of David by Michaelangelo is on display. It took three years to sculpt from one huge piece of marble! It's 16 feet tall. ...

... trying to keep my hand steady as the bells of one church finished and another started!

I thought I could go through Villa Bardini into the Boboli Gardens, and the signs seemed to indicate that, but I never could find my way. So I ended up leaving from the same place that I entered and then since by now it was close enough to lunch time, I picked up some pizza-by-the-slice from a shop close to the apartment, brought it back to eat, and rested for a while.

... an interesting front with a star of David on it, designed by a Jewish architect, and is also in marble.
There is a huge brick Town Hall which looks like a castle. In front of it is the Statue of David, and several other masterpieces. The originals of most of these are in museums, with copies in their places.There is a colonnaded street with statues of Galileo and others that I took photos of, but forget at the moment.
