We are not in a hurry to check out this morning as we are only going as far as Trieste, about 1 1/2 hours, so about 9am David and I head up to the 7th floor to have breakfast. The view from up here is the best we have seen in Venice and we spend a lovely hour soaking it all in for the last time, whilst feasting on fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries and coffee/tea. I take a last opportunity to photograph the amazing vista before us, including ...

It's only 130km from Venice to Trieste, so we didn't start out too early this morning. I walked into the old hotel, went to the reception desk and said "check out please - room 208." The receptionist looked at the key board and replied "no, check in." "No, check out" I repeated. We drove back to the villa and spent a quiet afternoon ...

After a late start we headed off for Croatia. No wind and calm seas but our new recruit Scott was not impressed!! 4 hours later we arrived with a very green passenger who could not get up to face customs! 1 hour later after we had tied up he was back with us eating crisps and swigging schnapps! Great to be back on board and only a few snags with Ellisa on the way down, mainly human error so very ...

Our time with Alberto and company continued on Saturday with a drive to Trieste (Frilui's capital city on the Adriatic Coast). En route we stopped at Castello Miramare; a home built in the mid-1800's by Ferdinand Maximillian (brother of the Austrian Emperor, Franz Joseph I). The castle is simple in terms of design, but is still very impressive considering the stunning views of the Adriatic, and ornate interior. ...
