The rum drinks were very strong and many of the people left feeling no pain. ... with four sea days until we arrive in Barbados and can take on fresh food. We're starting to know how early explorers, like the crew of the HMS Bounty, felt, barely surviving on stale bread and water. Imagine, no fresh food for 4 days... we'll probably have to get by on croissants, caesar salad, filet mignon, and chocolate melting cake...Horrors!

We found last minute accommodation in Rio for Carnival which is almost unheard of. We also found relatively slow transportation back to North America which would help us avoid at least four weeks of a frozen Canadian winter. And in a nice twist, our hotel and transport was the same thing- the Maasdam cruise ship. As our 'hotel' pulled out of the Rio harbour, we were almost accidentally trying out travel-by-cruise-ship which was a big change ...

We are now in the State of Ceara and over 300 miles of beaches and attractive coastlines with Fortaleza being the transit point to get to them.It has nearly 15 miles of beachfront ...
When in Fortaleza, you cant miss .. apparently. So we went there. ;)
The beach itself is amazingly long, white sand and lovely warm water.
The beach restaurant served crab, so i got stuck with some frenchfries while the rest ingested their freshly cooked crab, in the meantime we were entertained by beachvendors trying to sell us mostly **** tbh.. the usual homeburned movies of dubious quality, sunglasses and other misc stuff.
