Staying at the lighthouse has proved to be an excellent decision and we only wish we were staying longer. It was so cute having a visit from the raccoon last night and any time I woke in the night I peeked out to see if I could see him but he had gone. It was amazing to look out over the headland at night and see the lighthouse standing guard. …

Another peaceful night. Although the main highway goes right by our lodge, unlike truck drivers in NZ, Americans seem to wait for a respectable hour before thundering along the highway. I suppose unless they are coming to one of the coastal towns they use the interstate.

I also went to the hilarious Xmas Parade of Lights in Guerneville, worked 4 special events at the theater, and scoped out some local music venues over cocktails with new friends. That ...

We got ourselves packed and in the car before nine this morning for our drive up the coast of California to Sea Ranch to stay with Kathy and Henry Thornhill. I've known them since I was a young teenager, used to babysit their two kids Tina and Mike. We were very lucky to be able to join them at their house in Sea Ranch for a few days. Sea Ranch used to be a ranch but in 1964 was developed, it is a small community on the Sonoma coast and all the houses have ...

... fingers crossed. Meanwhile, all systems are go here, including the washing machine and dishwasher. It is wonderful to be able to cook in a real kitchen now. I have been “cooking” in a microwave in the trailer for 5 years, and the oven at Dave’s house doesn’t work, so I am looking forward to a bit of baking this winter.
