    ... by a roomful of awesome and creative women, a dinner party, 2 Xmas parties and 2 New Year’s parties. The New Year’s Eve event ended with a fireworks display over the bridge, put on by the local fire chief who used confiscated fireworks. Not bad for a tiny town of 1000+. I also went to the hilarious Xmas Parade of Lights in Guerneville, worked 4 special events at the theater, and scoped out some local music venues over cocktails with new friends. That ...

    We got ourselves packed and in the car before nine this morning for our drive up the coast of California to Sea Ranch to stay with Kathy and Henry Thornhill. I've known them since I was a young teenager, used to babysit their two kids Tina and Mike. We were very lucky to be able to join them at their house in Sea Ranch for a few days.     ... fingers crossed. Meanwhile, all systems are go here, including the washing machine and dishwasher. It is wonderful to be able to cook in a real kitchen now. I have been “cooking” in a microwave in the trailer for 5 years, and the oven at Dave’s house doesn’t work, so I am looking forward to a bit of baking this winter.

    ... the patio is lovely if the weather is fine; which it was.

    Today I made a run into town and hammered down the Hardie Board in the laundry room, so tomorrow we begin to tile. Dave finally seems to be happy with his shower work-around, so we may see progress this week. Yay!

    ... chairs and other beach equipment down steep stairs, no doubt muttering some expletives as he went. Looks like the steep concrete steps have now been replaced with a gentle concrete ramp (too bad were born too soon).
