      Alexa had the pleasure of hearing a man and woman argue loudly this morning in the lobby when she and Brad were heading to the gas station market across the road. It was time to get out of the area.

      Our next stop was the Avenue of the Giants in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. We did this 31 mile drive with all three kids in 2005. We worked backwards on the auto tour.

      ... and marauding cows, we opted for the inland route.

      It was a 10 miles of single lane seriously windy roads, just perfect for Dave at the wheel of the Miata. He had a blast. We wound our way back down to Duncan Mills and stopped for dinner at the Blue Heron. The food was fine, and they had live music on a Tuesday night.       ... be mostly done. These are the two biggest projects, so the rest should go much quicker.

      My pear tree and my plum trees went crazy this year, and I have both fruits in abundance. I can only eat so much of it, but luckily the deer and raccoons are helping out. The pears have a fungus that makes them fall early (although they are still edible, in fact delish!), so the critters come by and feast every night once the humans nod off.
