Well on Wednesday we got ourselves kitted up in preparation for our trip back to the mainland - put the waterproof covers on our backpacks and wore swimming gear with clothes put aside to change into on arrival at the mainland. You can probably guess what I'm building up to here - we had a completely calm crossing and didn't get wet at all! On arrival in Kuala Besut we got a taxi to take us to Khota Bharu. We were planning on going to the station to see if they have a left luggage facility bu...
Singapore, Singapore cyo Arrived in Singapore after a very tearful farewell to Cambodia. It was really hard to say goodbye to the kids after the International meal on Friday evening, seeing them eat Irish stew and try to add salt AND sugar to it, then to see their faces when they realised the bananas had chocolate inside. We then danced along to the Khmer Karaoke! and got our last hugs and kisses.
During the day Sam and I were given a card signed by all the kids to say Thank you to Teacher Deb and Teacher Sam.

The price of drinks in Singapore is shocking. In order not to let down the Irish couples from the Wayward Bus trip, we headed to Molly Malones on St. Patricks night, still slightly jet-lagged from yet another dodgy economy flight with Qantas. Simon tried the Guinness, a pint of which set him back over five pounds, and it wasn't even that good. That pretty much put an end to our St. Paddys celebrations else we might of had to think about coming home early. We also were tempted into the Long Ba...

Verena
Singapore, Singapore verenao... and the registrars and house officers in the acute stay general medicine ward aren't the friendliest bunch in the world. As we have been here for about 2 weeks, you'd think they'd at least greet us or spare the facial muscles to smile, but no. They still however do find the time to cast us dirty looks, and speak incredibly quietly so only the people within a 1mm radius can hear and even then it's difficult, just to make us feel really included. I'm just ...
Singapore, Singapore apoc100... to just get a pint. Luckily while walking to the brew pub, I'd spotted a fine Hooters establishment across the river. It's all about the wings, really. Final stop of the day one was supposed to be the museum but by the time we got there it was closed..always time tomorrow when you're traveling...

Since they wouldn't let us into the Museum we decided to see Terminator Salvation. The movie was so horrible I ...
Singapore, Singapore arikandcharis... looking things that were unidentifiable to me. One was a yellow-y colour, and seeing as the outside of the star fruit (i've seen them before in super markets, just dont know what they look like when you bite into them) is also yellow-y in colour, i figured perhaps the yellow-y one might be it. I took the little doggie bag with the yellow gelatnous compound inside and took it to the Fruit Lady. Me: Is this star fruit? Fruit Lady gives me a look: no ...
Singapore, Singapore catherine.cy.ng... We waited about 5 minutes for it to fly and I just hapoened to look away from it for one second and I missed the jump. Bloody typical! I’d been staring at hard at it for ages aswell. Everybody else seen it though and at least Simmo got to see it. (Simmo - It was amazing honestly! I would of hated to have missed it shell because it really was that good… probably the best thing I’ve ever seen!)

We continued with the ...
Singapore, Singapore shelleyandsimmo... Airways breakfast inside me I decided catergorically, most definitely not. This was it, I was on my way! Touching down in Singapore - indeed doing anything in Singapore is a pleasant, clean, easy, efficient experience and I had no trouble getting the metro to Fiona and Simon's who I was staying with. After a couple of days sightseeing there I think I had seen most of it. It would be a great place to live as all the other great ...
