Oktoberfest Madness!!

... seems everyone cycles around here! I much preferred it to Berlin, but obviously it doesn't come with the history that Berlin does & that's a the reason why Berlin isn't as pretty & hasn't got an old town like Munich, so that I understand, but still I just found it a much nicer place in general! We even stroked the lion's noses, which apparently bring you good luck, but make sure you stroke all four or it may not work!!! When we got back to camp that evening, it was madness ...

Munich: Rockin' The Glocken'.......Spiel??

... walks of life and every corner of Europe were interned here. The site has been turned into a museum and memorial. Two barracks were recreated to show how the victims lived. At first, they were pretty crammed, with about 212 people to a room, by the end of the war, there were over 1000 men to a room. Dachau was the model for all other camps in Germany, Austria and Poland. This camp was not a liquidation camp until later in the war. The stronger of men and the ...

Munich Memories

... Beer gardens :) Hey, we´re in Munich, you know we have to "sample" the beer. The beer... it´s stronger here, tastes really good, and EVERYONE (from pre-teens to the elderly) is drinking it! If you can imagine, we saw lots of funny stuff just roaming around the city... Grandma´s drunk holding a huge liter steins of beer, groups of middle aged women on their "lunch date" with their girlfriends absolutely smashed, and kids that cant be more than 14 meeting their ...

Chocolate, yogurt, cheese and beer...

... shopping every couple of days or even daily. I love the supermarkets here as they feel so European (funny that...being in Europe and all :) The shelves are full of German products including a whole section devoted to yogurt, another to beer, wall-to-wall cheeses, and numerous shelves stocked with chocolate. Mmmm...the chocolate. Just thinking about German chocolate makes my mouth water and my fat cells ...

On the way to Germany

Since I took the night bus from Vienna to Munich, and it didn't take longer than 6 hours to reach the final stop, I got to Munich quite early, it was before 6am, but public transportation was already available. In Munich I would be staying with my aunt, so it wasn't very close to the center, but the subway is pretty good and for 5 Euros you can get a day pass, so it's worth most of the time. Munich, meaning "Home of the Monks ...

Biking around Starnberg See

... it was a lot of fun and totally beautiful!! Katie lives in Feldafing, which is along the See as well (here it is called a See, but it is a lake). we made it maybe a third of the way around, then we decided to turn around. and finally we decided to take a train just one stop back to where we started from : ) we were tuckered out, not having biked for so long! and our butts hurt! but it was a beautiful day, as you can see from my pics.

Second day in Munich

... and just relaxed for about an hour. Then it was time for more ice cream and back to Moni's we drove. We are leaving for Munich here in a few where we will spend the rest of the day and hopefully catch the Portugal\France game on a big screen! Oh, and going to one more beer garden too.

Delirious with Erika and Rudigger

... Nord station, desperately hoping that i'd come across as a regular human to my gracious hosts and that i'd be able to maintain a coherent conversation with them, especially considering my German was borderline ***** and the Germans' English was just reasonable. Rudiger rocked up in a cosy little yellow hatchback soon after, and we shook hands and talked some jive as we burned thorugh the very lush, green winding streets of small town Starnberg, an economically quite lucrative ...

... lettering schemes are) and it just sounds so ridiculously dumb! When we got to Munich the hole tour (160+ of us) had to wait for our names to be called one by one to find out what room we were in. For some it took over an hour and a half to get their names called. Luckily the guys were called first. Go Guys! To Be Continued.......If you want to know let me know. I guess I got a "Munich Story" that compares to that of Sir Kyle Bond who went there in the Summer
