Today was a bit more 'tranquilo' than the last few days. We got up fairly early to take a one-hour bus ride to a town called Cuéllar. Cuéllar is known for its medieval castle and its mudéjar church. Mudéjar is a type of architecture created by the Muslims who remained in Spain after the Christian Reconquista, so it is not only Islamic in style, but is also heavily influenced by Christian and ...

... freely and screeching very loudly as it was clearly Mating Season.

As I manoeuvred the car through the Car Lift I reflected on what we had seen in Valladolid and felt that we hadnt really seen it at it's best. We had another two hours to get from Penaranda de Duero to Valladolid. On the way we drove through the Rio Duero valley. It was loaded with wineries. It really reminded us of the Grand Junction, Colorado area. The valley was hemmed in by several mesas. We think we will go back up that way when the wineries are open. We thought that would be fun.

Today our class took a tour of the cathedral in Valladolid. It is a lot simpler than the other cathedrals in Castilla y Leon (the province Valladolid is in), but nonetheless, still incorporates fascinating details in its architecture. During our tour, there was a ...
