    It took less than two hours to drive from Burgos to Valladolid. On the 75 mile journey I drove at the speed limit of 120 km/h and only 12 cars overtook me in the entire time. When we reached the city it then took several laps of the one way system to figure out how to get into the Car Park of the Hotel Boutique Gareus.     ... try and pay our €3.75 tolls!

    If you don't pay, the fine is €250 or something ridiculous so then we try to put our credit card into the machine heading into Portugal and it won't except it.

    So we then have to drive further on into the nearest town to find a post office where we can pay the tolls, which we did thank goodness before leaving again and incurring some more tolls on the way out. Bloody crazy system ...

    We had another two hours to get from Penaranda de Duero to Valladolid. On the way we drove through the Rio Duero valley. It was loaded with wineries. It really reminded us of the Grand Junction, Colorado area. The valley was hemmed in by several mesas. We think we will go back up that way when the wineries are open. We thought that would be fun.
