We left Sauvignone soon after 09:00 and took the autostrade to Turin and then onwards to Briancon. We stopped at Momtgenevre where relatively fresh snow had been swept for the road into piles on the car park. This was hard to believe as it was actually 20c with brilliant sunshine when we were there! The views of the Alps with snow covered tops, ...

Arthur took us to see the sights, along the Rhone where it is being developed in to a social area. We went to the Parc de la Tete d'Or. It is a massive free public park with large grassed areas. There were families picnicking, couples canoodling, people sun baking or sleeping and generally enjoying the peaceful space. There is also a free zoo within the park! We saw flamingos, some monkey type things (we couldn't go right in on the Segway) beautiful ...

When we got home, there were a lot of lunch guests there for a luncheon (a lot of Marc, Estelle, and Eliette’s friends). It was a huge lunch, and there was so much food! Most of their friends ...

... for a drink with them so later we headed to the banks of the Rhône where there are boat bars moored with tables and chairs on the quayside. We went onto a boat to get a drink - it was so cool! Jailhouse Rock was playing and all the barmen were dancing around as they served drinks. I thought it was a shame to go outside again. The atmosphere was great with the 50's/ 60's music, the lively staff and the fact that it's a bar on a boat! It was ...

... past that with wine and grape juice and had some spectacular local food. I had the chicken liver meatloaf baked in a small dish with tomato, olives and bits (not bad huh Jacq). Then a wander around town on our way back to the hotel, a beer at an open air cafe on the edge of the Lafayette bridge (one of many over the Rhone) and back to the hotel.A quick Skype home, about 12 words of blogging before I fell asleep for the fifth time and that was it. Midnight already and up at 6.30am - groan.
