... after some conference calling this morning, the final decision to carry on was made and its happening!

The route has changed slightly for myself and Glen. We will be sorting our backs out with Physio on Friday morning (No ballie jokes!) and will start early with an easy ride to Port Edward on Friday morning. We will meet up with the rest of the group at Izinolweni later the day.

Updates to the blog will happen on a daily basis from now and as the action unfolds!

The first camp of the actual UA tour was in Botswana near Chobe National Park. It is new since May of this year, is called Bakwena Lodge, sits in a small roadside village on the riverbank between Kazangula and Kasane, and is used almost exclusively by OAT groups. We drove past a lot of yellow hills and at first they confused me but then I found out that they are gold hills! We went more into houses and there was some hills and Aseil said that they were Beverly Hills! Well joburgs version.
We drove for a little while stopping every now and then to talk about Africa and its history.

Hector Pieterson was a thirteen year old boy and was named as the first victim of the 26 June 1976 shootings. He was part of the student protest that, although supposed to be peaceful, turned out violent and the police began to shoot. We visited the museum in Soweto which is dedicated to his story.
