... s and then over to a jazz club that was also on the waterfront. It was fun because there was live music. Then I went back to the ship with everyone and got some sleep.

The next day was a long one, and went out and went to many stores. I only bought a few things but they were the main things I wanted from South Africa. A lot of the stores have things that are exactly the same, so when I say that these were the things I wanted I mean ...

Day 1 in Africa, I am jet-lagged

... this bothers me in anyway other than the fact that I stand out even more.  A homeless girl comes running up to me with a disfigured face, she begs for money saying that she is pregnant and needs to feed her baby. I want to give her something, but my money is tucked deep into my backpack and even opening my backpack in the middle of the numerous people hanging out in the city would be a bad idea.  I walk faster and she is relentless where I get a little concerned.  She starts pleading ...

Day Four - Table Mountain

... a boat ride out to Seal Island, which is a tiny rock inhabited by hundreds of seals. It was pretty cool to see that many seals in one place, and to see them fighting the surf and playing in the water. Then we did some more shopping at the waterfront and headed for the airport. Tomorrow morning I leave for my safari, although the actual safari doesn't start until Monday.

Rain or Shine

... our money back, and hopped on another one thirty seconds later. To our knowledge, the second minibus had NOT been stolen. At the beach, it was hot and sunny, but the water was FREEZING. I left before the live, outdoor jazz concert started, but I was happy with my time there. I intend to return quite a bit. Yesterday it rained all day. We went to the V&A Waterfront (which is not named for Victoria and her husband Albert ...

Closing Thoughts

What a trip! There were so many times over the past two months when I wondered if I would make it, but here I sit, back in my apartment in Dubai with my only remaining challenge being the adjustment back to routine life. Having spent the past two months in Africa and amongst Africans, it's worth noting a few things I've learned. First, was patience. Coming from a world where I'm (more or less) used to getting what I want when I ...

This is to be a very important moment in my life, fishing at the joining of two great seas in some of the most productive waters on earth is an fishermans dream and an important milestone in their life. Got there this morning and was very excited, i took my seasick pill, the boat is nice and it is a beautiful place. We will be 28 miles directly off Cape of Good Hope. I find out ...

The end is near

The last day of the trip and it was party time. From the very moment we got on the truck there was a buzz. With ten of us getting off in Cape Town, as well as all the passengers from the other truck we were determined to enjoy our last truck day. The sides were up, the beach was up and we were waving to all and sundry during our short drive into Cape Town. Those who had been on the Wine Tour were still suffering badly with hangovers but not even this could take ...

Sharks are awesome

We drove back Capetown to end the wonderful Safari. I had an amazing time. I met new people, saw incredible thing and ate fabulously! The one thing I really wanted to do was to see the Great White Sharks. What better way to do that than go to them and swim in a cage next to them. The bus came at 6 in the morning and drove to Gaans Bai about 2 hours north of Capetown. Got ...
