MONTAG, 5. Januar 2009 - Tschuess, Sydney !! Heute hiess es Abschied nehmen von Sydney, wor wir die letzten zweieinhalb Monate verbracht haben. Es war sehr lustig und wir haben sehr viele nette Leute kennegelernt, die es uns umso schwerer machten, weiterzuziehen...Aber wir sind ja schliesslich Backpacker, da muss man halt mal weiter... ... at the inn for boys! We had to book a motel quite a bit out of the centre for more than we would like to pay. Once we had accommodation organised, we went back to book the bus. The bus we wanted was filled so we couldn't leave until the later bus which meant a late arrival in Canberra. That put an end to meeting the relatives and we were stuck in Canberra for 3 expensive, non-refundable, nights! All reports of Canberra were to give it a miss ...

... and I got the kayak into the water and all three of us piled on-board. Kayaking was not our strongest leg but as it was the final leg we pushed on. Arriving back at shore, it seemed to take forever to pack up the kayak and paddles and then run for the finishing line (although again Jarrod and I were suffering badly from cramps).<br><br>Our final time was 4:40:47, finishing 77th out of 90 entries. <br>

... in Canberra viel mehr los als Tagsueber, mussten wir feststellen. Ueberall war richtig gute Stimmung und die Leute waren cool drauf. Es gab irgendwie 2 Geburtstage zu feiern also wurd ordentlich getrunken und getanzt. Hat echt super Spass gemacht! Na toll, dachten Anna und ich, da findet man sofort Anschluss in Canberra, aber nicht in Sydney :) Aber die wollen uns jetzt alle besuchen kommen und wir haben auch alle Nummern ausgetauscht. ... er tilbage. Da vi nærmede os Canberra kunne vi virkelig se omfanget af den store brand i Januar 2003, hvor store områder er lagt øde med masser af forkullede træer. Vi mener i øvrigt, at Cathrina og Henrik engang har kørt denne vej tilbage fra et weekendophold i Victoria. Klokken 17.30 var vi tilbage i Canberra. So whilst exploring the town we hit the main sights of Canberra which included the art museum (with some very weird modern art), the parliament building (that we weren't allowed inside), we did the city walk and looked round a few shops. We had pretty much covered all Canberra had to offer in 3 hours so headed back to our hostel for something warm to eat and an early night ...
