... chocolate when the rain started again.
Most of the time though there was a break in the rain when we were out and about.
On the way back to Scoobs we met another Campervaning couple and exchanged stories and tips.
Wow, it's all going on here :)
This village clings to the side of a cliff. We first saw it in an articule in the TNT magazine in London.
It is another stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compestela. It has a famed image of a Black Madonna which is reputed to be responsible for many miracles.
From a distance this village is spectacular. We ...
We're back! We haven't had consistent internet access for a while, but are now able to catch up a bit. We are actually in Annecy, France right now in the Alps, but will write about that and other adventures soon.
Rocamadour
The ancient city ( the church is 530 years old) of Rocamadour is on top of, at the foot of and stuck to a cliff in the middle of France., a surprisingly canyony area. We drove to the bottom of the city and took a stairway ...
... rather than 2 rear axles on the trailers. The trucks are a little smaller than our 18-wheelers. Quite a few people were already on the road for a long weekend. Friday is their "Labor Day," and they LOVE to go on a holiday. I heard something like 85% of the French have a country home! Not many RVs, etc. Vehicles are all small. Not far north of Toulouse we began to get in to much hillier country... more like the Hill ...

fontanes du causse, France laura_andy... The hamlet is in the Parc Quercy (a National Regional Park) so much of the wildlife etc is fairly abundant. Some hunting is allowed but only at specified times and dates. You do have to watch out for wild boar! Never spotted one thank goodness. It is also the centre of the black truffle region. Saw plantations of special oaks being planted to maximise future truffle returns. Interestingly Y & O's home (barn) was originally built as the result of a particularly good ...
Cahors, Midi-Pyrénées, France bucksbeachWe left Chateaue le Verdoyer on Monday 16th in pouring rain and headed south for Cahors, hoping for better weather. It cleared gradually and we arrived in the dry, only to be told that there had been 5mm of rain that morning. It stayed dry long enough to set up camp, but then the heavens opened and we had ...
Cahors, Midi-Pyrénées, France oldagetravellerUpon leaving my lovely villa, I returned to a charming, affordable hotel near the train station in Cahors, and explored that medieval town of 21,000 a bit better. The cathedrals, the 700 year old fortified Pont Valentre, and more winding streets, farmers markets and promenades along the Lot in the warm summer sun made for a delightful August.
Cahors, Midi-Pyrénées, France charmedlife... ourselves all the way to cahors, the endpoint of our week long sojourn through the vallees of lot and cèlè. we walked from 930 am and arrived in cahors at 730pm, tired, blistered, tired, and hungry, but oh so happy that we could tell others that yes, we had walked 30 kms. yesterday also marked a two week trial of trying to be quiet. It seems that in the group dynamic, ive become the talker, and i had some so of dream that maybe i needed to listen a little more, so i have imposed a minimum ...

It was a long bus ride to Rocamadour. We stopped at a porcelain factory on the way and saw artisans making different items. I bought a plate for my mom there. We finally arrived and were let loose to walk around. My friend Brian and I went shopping and bought hand grenade cigarette lighters. That night we had dinner at the hotel and some kids went ...
