Left Spain with a heavy heart and headed into France. We were stopped at the first toll after the border by the French police. We resisted saying " good moaning or allo allo" and we were instructed to pull over to the bay beside the tolls. I noted that they waited until after we had paid the toll. We were told to get out and while one checked our paperwork the other hopped into the van. ...

... Saint Emilion .... BEAUTIFUL! The town is full of gorgeous old buildings, narrow streets, vineyards and stunning chateaus. The first day we went to Edam, aka cheesetown, and Marken, a quaint town on a remote part of the country. In Edam, we stayed at this adorable cafe for over two hours and ...

... hope that he would be able to get to the cave by 3.30. We then went into St Emilion to wait until 2.00. When we got back Geoff tried again to ring the cave - & was told to ring in 5 minutes, then he tried again & it went to the answering machine. By this time the tour of the winery had started. This was really interesting & we now know all about how to make wine. This winery is owned by a company & it is obviously backed by some serious money! Everything was ...
