    It's been a hectic few days, getting ready for this trip, but finally I'm on my way! Pegasus Airlines cancelled my Istanbul to Konya flight and I didn't find out till late Sunday! Managed to rebook for the next morning (Wed) and find a room in the airport hotel. Now I'm on my way ...

    ... to see them and hug them and we were on our way to Annecy, just over the border in the lakes district of France. We had an apartment overlooking the lake, amazing views. Lots of water activities, kayaking, swimming, paddle boats, the 13century old town was awesome. I should mention at this point the pastries, latte macchiatos, crepes, and jambon and fromage baguettes....wow, oh also the icecream. The weekend we were there they had an amazing fireworks ...

    ... much shallower than that. Lac Annecy is fed by springs and streams with the site of the main spring being 45m below the surface. The deepest point in the lake is a whopping 82m! As we boated around we were told that one village on the lake shore here is the third most expensive place to buy real estate in all of France. Paris is first and Nice is second. Interesting and it makes me wonder if George might be looking to add another lakeside home ...

    We got up and had breakfast at the hotel, which was a step up from the last hotel since they had eggs. We had a short bus ride to WTO which was just down the street. When we got there, we had to go through metal detectors and show our passports to security before getting onto the property.     ... In this neck of the woods, highways are signed by a destination town or city with multiple blue and green routes possible. Freddy routed us toward Italy, then Geneva, then back toward Lausanne and back again.
