Day 1 of the trip. We are staying at the F1 Hotel tonight, and getting on the plane in the morning. Travelled down to Darling Harbour. looked around for some last minute souveneirs, and continued on to the hotel. Dad's Navman took us to the wrong end of Sydney airport, but eventually we found the hotel and checked in. Hotel Formula 1 at Mascot, which is right under the flight path of the domestic aircraft, and about 2km from the International terminal. At $115 per night for a double + 2 bunks...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia apatWe flew from Brisbane to Sydney today and stayed the night there so that it was less stressful getting to the international airport on time. Also would have been an early start if we flew from Brisbane to Sydney in the morning especially as we lost an hour due to daylight savings.... We stayed at the Formule 1 hotel about 500 metres from the airport. We didn't realise it was that close so we caught a cab... cabbie wasn't too happy, but we think he had something sorted out so that he didn't ha...

At 10am Monday, my flight to Vancouver should just be taking off. It will be a relief to of finally made it afer last years cancellation and I'm sure some of you are glad to see the back of me ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia maccasworldtourI was incredibly lucky today, my friend Robyn was heading to the airport too so we caught a hire car together and killed time waiting for our planes in the bar. Thanks Robyn! For the first of the 4 flights to my destination, I took the red-eye to Sydney. I love Qantas. Its the little things - pillows, blanket and breakfast. Had a grumpy taxi driver that drove me to the hotel and without much sleep, I got grumpy right back.. The staff at the hotel were fabulous. i was able to check in at 8am a...
Sydney, Australia sarah.nicholls I arrived in Sydney and had a blissful day with a beatufiul man before heading back to the airport for my afternoon flight.
As I walked through the airport I had a quick look at the duty free but was concerned about being late for the 4:25pm plane, nothing worse than running through the airport as your name is called over the loudspeaker. I arrived at the gate with plenty of time only to hear an announcement even worse than my name… "Attention passengers on flight QFXXX your ...
Window seat on the plane to Sydney secured me last pictures of New Zealand's stunning landscape. My 'end of the world' fairy tail was over. However there wasn't much time to whimper as busy city of Sydney was awaiting her visitor.
I stayed at Miso's, my road trip mate from two months ago, who was studying there. That provided me not only a luxury of my own room, but also an insight to Australian ...
... s Church, which David was very excited about because it was features on Dan Cruikshank's 80 Treasures Around the World.
On Saturday we went up the Sydney Tower, which I didn't do last time I was here. From the top was a great view over the city and the Opera House and bridge. We could really see that the city centre is quite small, and the rest of it is residential. We also saw an aeroplane writing the words "Call Mum" in the sky, because it's ...
... Arrived in Sydney uneventfully, thanks to Allan and Ann. Got some free accommodation with one of my friends. Had a really good weekend in Sydney with him. He took us on a guided tour of the city on the the saturday. Took the ferry in from Manly where he lives. The ferry takes about 20 minutes, and a bout 10 minutes out of Manly your go round this corner and suddenly in front of you is the Sydney opera house and the Sydney harbour ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia ben-n-jenn... I'm having an early night tonight because tomorrow is Mardi Gras and I want to have some energy seeing as I havnt actually gone to bed before midnight since I've got here! Should be fun. I put some Hong Kong photos on Facebook and at some point when I have hours to spare and the right computer I shall try and link them in this one so you can see what I'm talking about as I'm typing!
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia wollifer... point for the fireworks display, for 2 reasons. 1. You have to queue for about 5 hours to get in there, and 2. You can't bring in alcohol there. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a big alcoholic but the thoughts of sitting in a park for 8 hours on New Years Eve without a few drinks to celebrate would be a very long stretch indeed! We decided on a place in Pyrmont which is on the harbour and across from the casino. We had a good view of the ...
