Day 1 - Sydney Airport

Day 1 of the trip. We are staying at the F1 Hotel tonight, and getting on the plane in the morning. Travelled down to Darling Harbour. looked around for some last minute souveneirs, and continued on to the hotel. Dad's Navman took us to the wrong end of Sydney airport, but eventually we found the hotel and checked in. Hotel Formula 1 at Mascot, which is right under the flight path of the domestic aircraft, and about 2km from the International terminal. At $115 per night for a double + 2 bunks...

We flew from Brisbane to Sydney today and stayed the night there so that it was less stressful getting to the international airport on time. Also would have been an early start if we flew from Brisbane to Sydney in the morning especially as we lost an hour due to daylight savings.... We stayed at the Formule 1 hotel about 500 metres from the airport. We didn't realise it was that close so we caught a cab... cabbie wasn't too happy, but we think he had something sorted out so that he didn't ha...

Layover in Sydney

I was incredibly lucky today, my friend Robyn was heading to the airport too so we caught a hire car together and killed time waiting for our planes in the bar. Thanks Robyn! For the first of the 4 flights to my destination, I took the red-eye to Sydney. I love Qantas. Its the little things - pillows, blanket and breakfast. Had a grumpy taxi driver that drove me to the hotel and without much sleep, I got grumpy right back.. The staff at the hotel were fabulous. i was able to check in at 8am a...

Step 2, Leaving Australia

I arrived in Sydney and had a blissful day with a beatufiul man before heading back to the airport for my afternoon flight.

As I walked through the airport I had a quick look at the duty free but was concerned about being late for the 4:25pm plane, nothing worse than running through the airport as your name is called over the loudspeaker. I arrived at the gate with plenty of time only to hear an announcement even worse than my name… "Attention passengers on flight QFXXX your ...

Missed it by that much!

... in the house rather than going out to eat. Friday was my productive day since I dont have class that day, and this weeks' goal was to get a job! Well i guess Thursday i called literally about 30 engineering companies trying to score some part time work, but yeah, i dont think that is going to go anywhere, so friday i printed 30 resumes and cover letters and walked around Randwick, the city i live in and handed my resume out to everywhere, sports fitness places, retail stores, restaurants ...

Goodbye Oz - We'll meet again!

... a version of Bouncer the dog looking on from the pool area hoping someone will have pity and feed her some meat - its like a chinese torture show. Aussie barbecues are about the size of Buckingham Palace - not those irish metal affairs with wheels and a side burner stuck on which rusts and is used once a year - usually on the hottest day of the year which is absurdly always at the start of October and takes everyone by surprise. Never in summer when its ...

Last day in Sydney for a while

So now I am back in Sydney and going to see if there is any part of the Easter show going on in Darling Harbour. Then I am heading for Canberra, the capital of Australia, for two nights. I don't know how much there is to do there, but I'll have one whole day, and from what I've heard, that should ...
