One guy dining on his own next to us looked at one stage like he might pass out, but continued in scenes reminiscent of Mr. Creosote. The steak was maybe the best we have ever had, delicious red wine, ridiculously good salad bar, amazing view over the bay, and a waiter who was the spitting image of messi - what more could you ask for. Brazil is a kissing culture, as in it is customary to greet folks with two quick kisses - one on each cheek. ... From the crashing waves to the mad bus drivers, to the cheering football-mad supporters of the Maracana stadium and the hustle and bustle on every street; the noise it is incessant.
For me there have been many highlights but probably the hang gliding over Rio and the awesome power of the water falls just about win.
We need to go back to the UK for a rest but I do not fancy the weather ...

... angle, making the enclosure look so much like a prison I wanted to call greenpeace & dob them in! So that was a depressing day, poor animals! On the way back through the park I had a quick look at the old royal estate around which the park was structured. Beautiful big estate, with a classic garden out the front with borders & paths, though too dry to really do it credit... Didn't stay long it was too hot, had a quick look then headed home... Another day walking at an end... ...

After breakfast today I introduced myself to my room mates, one from London and two guys from Chile. And as the others were doing the favela tour in Roccinha this morning I decided to go for a long walk on my own. I have already done the same tour once before, three years ago. I walked on the beach of Copacabana towards Ipanema. I walked over to the Arpoador, which is a little cliff in between Copacabana and Ipanema.
