After over 30 hours of travelling and 13 hours time difference we have arrived in Aukland a bit worse for wear. We picked up a taxi easily as we came out of the airport at about 9.00 a.m. And came straight to our hotel who, joy of joys, had a room ready for us. The flights with Cathay Pacific were fine and reasonably uneventful apart from an ...

... well worth the wait. We left the room number, 516, to add the meal to the bill. We then ventured outside to find where the car hire place was as we were told it was just around the corner, well it would have been if we were at a different hotel!! On returning to our room we discovered all the adapters we had bought did not work. On closer reading of the packaging they state that they work in 'some' areas of New Zealand ...

The bird life is amazing and we hear many early morning calls, including some known and others unknown. We hear, but seldom see ...

... the room to become available we enjoyed our second breakfast of the day in the Executive lounge. This was of course an extremely bad idea as once the room became available and we had had our showers, I conked out on the lovely soft bed while Vaughan continued to plan out our day completely unaware that I was no longer alive to the world.

Disappointingly when I woke up the weather had still not improved and we got a message from the tour operator saying ...

      German Inefficiency

A travel blog entry by tholdsworth89 on Sep 09, 2014

... on a bender the day before and insisted that we took their strip club vouchers as they were leaving the city that day. Junior went to explore the local area and helpfully picked up some paracetamol as I listened to a young German girl in our room trying to sort out car issues with a Kiwi mechanic. Clearly in distress, I asked if everything was OK and it turned out that she’d stupidly invested nearly 2,000 New Zealand dollars on a Subaru ...
