Arrival in Italy

We had an easy trip from Patras to Brindisi, sailing time 17 hours. We chose not to take a cabin, an just as well we didn't. Most of the ship was full of trucks and drivers and the cabins were shared cabins!
The rest of the public areas were quiet and we were able to find flat couches each in a alcove. We took food on board, just as well as the stuff in the café ...

Our last day in Italy......for a while!

Today we're off to Brindisi and decide to travel via Lecce which we have learned is another fabulous old town......and it is!
Later we arrive, eventually, at our hotel after another period of searching as it's situated on a road that is not open to traffic......eventually we park the car ...

Lecce again

... occupation. Again many artefacts have been found and work is still going on. The coast here is very rocky and has a lot of inlets, and a little further on we found a large natural swimming hole surrounded by rock. We drove home and walked round the grounds of the estate. Wally is getting used to the erratic ways of the Italian drivers, who do the most unexpected things at the most unexpected moments!

Next stop - Puglia and a brief stay in Lecce before catching the ferry from Brindisi over to Corfu.We stayed in a Holiday Inn which was great and had a nice rooftop pool. Lecce was, shall we say....interesting. A lot of amazing architecture, but also a lot of people !!! The town was mobbed, as were the local beaches and coastal towns.
