What a day! After a 4.30 start our bus eventually turned up to take us up into the mountains.
At first the drive was fairly calm just occasionally dodging pilgrims as trekked towards the source of the four religious rivers. We stopped devpragay for the confluence. The two rivers, Alaknanda (holy one)and the Bhagirathi and together this becomes the Ganga.

... concession, but the vast majority of Asan is closed to people. There are ample places to bird watch from the shoreline. In fact, this was one of the locations throughout the state that hosted the Utterakhand Spring Bird Festival this past February.
This trip was another great opportunity to learn about how another Protected Area is being managed and to add to our growing list of birds observed during our time in the country.

Today was going to be a good day; we knew this as we were greeted outside of our balcony by a stunning view of snow capped mountains with the sun shining upon them.
