I've been at Dutch Flat for about 3 months getting ready for my travels and waiting for my house to sell. It's now in escrow and I've paired down to my last remaining material things and ready to hit the road for a long time. First stop will be Yuba City to get a few ...

Today we arrived at our campground at BEALS POINT, at FOLSOM SRA.. Nice spot with full hookup, except no TV reception. Oh well, we plan to be busy this week. After we cleaned up and got situated we drove a short distance to sister Diane's house.. My nephew, Aaron was home. I had not seen him in about 8-9 years. Also, great- nephew Levi was there.. He is 19 months. Then we went to a Bistro at a "Center"in Eldorado Hills for a concert outside. Great weather, good, band, people ...

Mileage: 12.5 miles Altitude gain: ~1500 ft. The day started out with a slow drizzle that had been going for most of the night. Breaking camp in the rain is always slow and messy as everything including us was muddy (a little smelly too as we haven't had enough water for the luxury of a bath). The rain really only let up for a short time at lunch. We had the fortune to score ...

Mileage; 13 miles Altitude Gain: ~2000 ft. Today was a tough day with water for first half of day, then none. Water purifying system sprung a leak and soaked my pack! Luckily my sleeping bag and tent were protected. Kyle and I started hiking alone. It seemed at different times of the day we felt more willing to lead or follow. I could see a battle within ourselves. Our bodies ached for rest but our determination and wills wouldn't let us. All in all it was a very difficult ...
