Today we took my father's (Bart's) advice and drove down the Eastern side of California on 395 South. Glenn and I agree that this route was the most amazing interstate driving either of us have ever been on. Going South on 395 one passes one incredible Mountain after another as the Sierra Nevada's take on different forms.

After Mt. Whitney, we headed to Convict Lake, not too far north on Hwy. 395. Dan's old boss was staying here during the week and told us to stop by. We're glad he did because it was gorgeous! Unfortunately, he had already left when we got there. We still camped there and tried to recover from Whitney. Our legs were pretty sore and jello-like. We didn't do any hiking but did walk around part of the lake. Headed to Mammoth Lakes next!
... for awhile. The madness and majesty of the High Sierra is calming itself down to much more gradual terrain. We will be back on the PCT tomorrow night, strange thing, not being on the PCT is noticeably "strange" to both Becca and I.
