... I noticed a cable car to one of the mighty peaks above. It was rather misty and overcast when I passed this cableway and so continued to the summit. It was here at the summit I spotted the cable car high up in the mountains and as the skies had cleared I decided to head back down the same way on the pass and take a trip on the cableway to the top of the mountain.

This cable car took skiers and tourists up to the top of mount Diavolezza at 2978m above sea level. ...

... for a bite to eat and before starting on our 'real' trek up to Nago-Torbole which is slightly set back from the edge of the lake.

First stop were the ruins of ruins of Penede castle, which took a little hunting down, as we preceeded up a steep cobbled footpath and then past numerous vineyards before locating these high up on the cliff/mountain. ... dry along the route. The climb back down, of course is easier but it is difficult to stay upright with the numerous loose stones underfoot.

Tomorrow Lake Garda hosts a marathon which according to the web is expecting 65,000 visitors and therefore the roads are close around the Northern end of the Lake... so it will be another en foot option for us and hopefully a trip down to Torbole and the Marmite Giant :).
