Trekking, Bamboo rafting and massages

... fish nibble away on the old skin on your feet in what is effectively a fish tank. At first you can't help but laugh hysterically as its like the most intense tickle ever but once you get used to it its quite enjoyable.

Afterwards we decided to go for a traditional thai massage. For little over 2 pounds we had an hour massage which Rumit definately appreciated. It wasn't as firm as i was expecting but maybe it was because i could tell what was coming next. Rumit was next to me ...

Hey there little Buddy!

... a freaking natural...it was me that clung to his waist, eating flies and had hair drapped all over my face!! Buddy will be getting another spin tomorrow, as we head off to explore other areas surrounding Chiang Mai, getting further into the Thai culture, which we love.

Off to Pai on Saturday, by bus, so looking forward to completely chilling out in the riverside bungalows!

The wonders of Northern Thailand

So my time in Bangkok came to an end and it was time to head up to the north of Thailand. To do this I went on an overnight train, an experience in itself! Firstly I started in a seat, but I knew that somehow I had a bed at some point in the journey but could not work out how they would manage it. I didn't let this worry me and sat back and watched the change in scenery from bustling built up Bangkok to the luscious green scenery of the countryside.

... with Poom the carer and lady who sleeps next to their pen at night. She doesn't get a lot of sleep as their either snoring really loudly or running around as they only sleep for 4-5 hours.
Afterwards we got washed up and got ready to say our goodbyes with the staff who looked after us for the 3 days. We loaded our bags into the bus and left with a desire to come back soon but more importantly to help in whatever way we can and if that is to ...

Doi Suthep Temple

A 14th-Century monk from Sukhothai had
a vision one day - he saw a fire and when he followed it,
he found a relic (apparently a bone) from the Buddha himself.
He took the relic to his king, but it failed to reproduce
its magical powers and the king lost interest.

However ...

Make Fire Like Master Chef

... the items that have made it into our meals. On COOKING CLASS DAY!, we were picked-up from our guesthouse bright and early by a red songthaew and partook in a conversation with a friendly Balinese man sharing our taxi about the possibility of procuring a monkey as a pet while traveling in Indonesia. Obviously, this was one of Arielle's great ideas. The funny thing is, the whole suggestion didn't seem to be such bizarre idea to him; they are only $40 ...

It's a Freak Show

... the big money these pigs pay is far too tempting to turn down for so many girls. Maybe Laos has it right. They have outlawed relationships between foreigners and Loations - Loations are not allowed to be alone with a foreigner and the police actually have the right to do Hotel raids. Like Cuba as well. Guess you can't have everything - freedom and creep free zoning. Long time ago when I was here before, this stuff was confined to the tacky ...

... near her and record everything! She also showed us the different types of noodles and rice used in Thai dishes. The pricing is different for rice based on the type (Jasmine or sticky) and the region it was grown. She also showed us different spices and sauces (fish sauce, oyster sauce, ect) that are used in the dishes that we will be making. Back at the school we start by preparing soup. I made hot and sour prawn soup (tom yam kung) and Bill made chicken in ...

Our bags had been hooked on the seats behind us. We then walked about 40 mins. – mostly uphill to the next village. There were some long killer hills. We had lunch at this village – noodles with veggies, watermelon and pineapple. As usual we could buy ...
