The "eternally sunny port"... CLOSED MONDAY!!!!

The wind howled and rocked Scooby all last night. We all thought we were going to be blown away! Caught the bus into Tarragona, which the LP sells as an eternally sunny port with lots of interesting Roman sites. Well being a Monday all of the sites were closed but we did manage to view the amphitheatre from the road and wander ...

Surfing in the Med

The plan was to go to a little village on the outskirts of Tarragona - Altafulla but it didn't really tickle our fancy and nothing open so went a bit further south to Cambrills. On arrival I noticed that there were some waves off the beach which were probably surfable. As we drove further along the beach the waves got bigger and then I saw a few guys out there surfing. Excellent!!! I pulled over and said I was going in and the girls would have to occupy themselves ...

Premia-Mora

Pilgrimage to Montserrat

... trails as we needed more than an hour and we were starting to run short on time due to the last train leaving Montserrat, etc. So we spent some time up there taking in the views - then we went back down and had lunch (4 p.m.) and then caught the second to the last train back. The Rack Railway started down and I knew that we didn't have much time to catch the train and that we should line up - so as soon as the railway stopped we got off ...

Barcelona

... everywhere. In the end it wasn't much of a relaxing day but it was nice not waiting in line ups. The line up for the Picasso museum was at least an hour... I just couldn't be bothered! But I was able to wind in and out of the streets and see all the architecture. It was very beautiful. I finished my day off with sangria and paella. It was soooooo good! I was looking forward to it all day and it did not dissapoint!!

Barcelona and the mountains and the lakes!!

... in the morning. I made it out of Barcelona better than I thought and hit the road, only to pull over an hour later after seeing a air show at a local airport. I pulled down a small little road, leading me by a small hog shed, giving me a whiff of the pig smell...reminding me of showing hogs at the county fair. The temperature, dead grass, sun, and people all were very similar to a Kansas summer day. The airshow, along with the gas ...

Do you see what I sea? The Mediterranean!

... and explore Barcelona tomorrow, rather than pursue our original plan of exploring the city right away and relaxing later. We spent a good part of the afternoon walking around Villanova and on the beach along the Meditteranean Sea. The Mediterrean was a nice break from the dirty, smelly, dead crab infested body of water known as Arcachon Bay outside our beach house in France ...
