We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.
We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
We continued on the roadbook without too much of a problem, driving through some really pretty towns and villages. We stopped at a post office, to get stamps, just in case the postcard shops didn't sell them. The change we got in Liechtenstein came in handy here! The route took us into a small town which had a Subaru dealer, so we stopped for a few bingo card photos. As we drove away from there, we saw a ...
Landquart, Switzerland dirtyweekendersSo, Liechtenstein. the smallest country in Europe. We got stooped at the border, and asked for our passports, and what we were doing there. No problems though, and we were soon on our way.
We were almost immediately at the Capital city, Vaduz. We were definitely not going to miss the chance to do the postcards etc. So we looked for somewhere to park. We drove around a bit and ...
... building, and the government building. This area looks very modern but blends well into the surrounding mountains and old houses and buildings.
It was a sunny day but a bit chilly. I decided the best way to warm up was to hike up to the castle. I started walking up a steep hill that I thought would lead me to the castle. It passed through a beautiful residential area and eventually ended at a trail head. Perfect! From there I ...
... town from what seemed a great height on spiral of track. Andermatt gave us the impression of a nearly new military encampment. Well, that was what it looked like without snow!
After Andermatt came Realp where if one knew about it at the time we would have wished to transfer to the Furka Bergstrecke Railway which has its terminas just outside the town and in view of the Bassistunnel ...
We visited Klosters and Davos on July 23rd. We rode a venicularr to the top of a mountain and enjoyed a view of a lake at Davosersee. On the hike down the mountain we found a great bench to stop for dinner. Ken had packed a picnic dinner and we enjoyed it on the side of the mountain.
Davos, Switzerland exploreamerica... believing what I'm seeing. I seemed to have a lot of these moments on my trip around the world. I thought I'd put them all in one place for those times when you just need something to make you laugh and wonder just what it is people are up to in this world. Hope you enjoy!
Everywhere, Liechtenstein beth... We traveled on some of the windingest roads you can imagine. Just when you thought you’d reached the valley, you would make a turn and go down some more. The scenery is so spectacular that the group is exceptionally quiet. They have to be awestruck. I know I am. The terrain returning from St. Moritz is very rocky. Wherever there is vegetation, there are cows. What a day! This was the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. I will never be able to put into words what I ...
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak... in clouds, so we were unable to see the valley below during dinner...too bad. Dinner was excellent. It consisted of appetizers (I’m not a big fan); the main course, which was beef & gravy with noodles and potatoes in a cream sauce, green beans and ham... and (the best part) DESSERT! The dessert table was out of this world...cheeses, plum cake, walnut & shortcake pie, warm plums with ice cream, and (yes!) warm STRUDEL with a cream topping. WOW! Europeans ...
