... strolled by. I would guess that pup was about six months old. He or she was a real beauty and made both Marilyn and me quite puppy-sick for our kids!
We continued on strolling the streets and heard a great oom-pa-pa band playing at the local German pub/restaurant... that added great energy and spirit - character - to the area.
Without much to see except for some lovely old architecture, we resigned ourselves back to the car and headed home for our final dinner ...
... Monica Boulevard. We were full of anticipation as today would be the day that we completed The Mother Road.
As it was a Sunday Santa Monica was very busy so we made the few hundred yards on foot after we parked up at the beach. The beach and pier more than fulfilled our anticipation. The place was buzzing with entertainers and everyone was just chilling out and soaking up the atmosphere. It reminded me very much of the promenade at Portobello Beach ...
... The city is small and more or less built along the main street passing through the town and maybe one or two side streets. Those streets are filled with a mix of your regular local service businesses plus the Danish-themed establishments; breweries, bakeries, Inns, restaurants etc. Since it's early in the day we decide to stop by one of the bakeries for coffee and a "sugar-bomb" or two. The selection is actually quite similar ...
... they didn't even know each other and that the youngest one was on drugs. Everybody stopped eating and started staring at them. I have to say that it was kind of scary. It was the first time that I was assisting to a fight like that. The two men started fighting physically: that's when I understood that it was serious. They moved towards my table and I kind of ran away towards another table. At this point, I was shaking ...
... money and no ken, and someone ELSE to share the day with. Oh well.
Yesterday after checkout and some pretty delicious pancakes at a diner, we walked out along Stearns wharf it was beautiful! I got to see a porpoise, no-one else on the whole wharf did, no-one was looking on the side I was. Lucky me.
We went for a drive up the coast a little way, boy oh boy talk about magnificent houses. Ken looked at the real estate pages when we got back, some of them were 8 ...
