I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
... they had when we last met) who we hadn’t seen for a couple of years when we were all gale bound in Ermoupolis on the island of Syros. Naturally we invited them across for a drink. Just prior to them appearing ‘Caladh’ slid into the berth next door to us with Richard and June having just finished their cruising season who, likewise, hadn’t met up with Steve, Anna and family for some time. As a result a memorable get together ensued.

The small bus, called a Dolmus bus picked me up in front of the hotel. People were cramped into the bus with only 11 seats - many were standing crookedly towards the back. Was that a rooster?? Yes, there was a rooster in a cage on the bus! The bus sped off - the driver only had his foot on the accelerator, honking instead of breaking. Phew, I survived the trip to downtown Bodrum. Fun and interesting ride.
The streets were narrow with lots of small ...
... for a few weeks. Bridget writes... One of the places that we stopped in was called Amazon Creek which got so shallow that even the dinghy touched the bottom! It was a great find as at the far end was a campsite with a restaurant that was open to the public. There was no menu, you just helped your self to as much or as little as you wanted and took it to the checkout. The surroundings were lovely with lots ...
Ova Buku, Turkey pandbWe docked our boat right in front of the restaurant of choice, then we all headed out for a Turkish Bath. It's interesting, but not necessarily something you'd want to do once a week or anything. First, in a giant steam room that's super-heated, they plop you on a slab of marble that's heated to about a gajillion degrees. After you're medium rare, some big hairy Turk comes in and ...
Datca, Turkey woody0198... there for well over thirty years and many generations. This snake was said to be the animal form of the healing god, god of medicine, Aescelepos, son of Apollo. By way of interest Aescelepos had a sister whose name was Hygieia. It is from her name that we get the English word, hygiene. Just goes to show health and hygiene have been together a long while. In spite of the rain I took it upon myself to see of much of Kos town as possible. There isn't really ...
