In February, 2013 I did a study tour with some university classmates in my tourism class. Our study was based on volunteer tourism. So what we did for our study tour was we volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 3 days and explored Orlando the other days. We were there for 6 days.

Volunteer tourism is a bit costly sometimes but very rewarding. You meet some really cool people from around the world and even some people that are even helping to build their own house!

My 2 favourite activities were Universal Studios and Magic Kingdom. I didn't think I would go on all of the crazy rides at Universal but it was actually AMAZING! Especially Harry Potter Land.

For going to Universal Studios, I would highly recommend that you get a fast-pass. It's about $55 USD but completely worth it. We never waited more than 3 minutes for a ride and the line ups are very very long. There is no fast pass for Harry Potter Land on some so make sure you do that first when you get there!

          Very Pleased Overall

I guess we just were very fortunate...no problems at all with our stay at Floridays. Yes, it is brand new and most of the buildings are still being completed and furnished, but we weren't even aware of the construction activity...no noise, dust (etc.) Also, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

This place is so conveniently located and the pool is fabulous. Of course, when we were there in May / June, only one building was receiving guests and there were never any crowds on the deck or in the water...may have a different situation when all buildings are ready to go. Our condo (Bldg. B) was spacious with all the amenities; full kitchen, washer/dryer (etc.) plus comfortable beds...king in the master and two queens in each additional bedroom. That building is also very near the pool and reception center.

Just a few minutes to SeaWorld, Premium Outlet Mall, Entrance to Downtown Disney, all sorts of restaurants, and a great little mall right next door with grocery, drugstore, Subway (etc.)

We will try Floriday's again for future visits to the Orlando area.

          Beautiful hotel-housekeeping not so good

the rooms a really nice...the master bathtub is great..along with kiddie pool.

But please note the first day after stay, housekeeping did not come at all..the beds were not made, nothing!

I don't know if they did not know that a guest was in that room or what.

The staff seems very mechanical, they were effecient..but seemed to be following training guides not to personable.

But the rooms are gorgeous,...ask to be in buildingB.

Also, the hotel is very quiet, but in the heart of everything!

Floridays Orlando Resort nice but a few problems!

My family stayed at the Floridays resort July 10-17. The checkin was great until we got to the rooms. The room was dirty and the bathrooms had never been cleaned. The housekeeping is very slack. We didn;t even get service until we called late afternoon and all the housekeeping folks were going home. This resort is very nice but they need to have better managing skills. Our toilets and bathtub backed up for a couple of days. The hot tub by the pool was broken. We would possibly stay again but right now unsure it we would.

          Ga. on my mind!

Great value now but read my tips!

Our family of 9 stayed for 3 nights during July 4 week.

          1) The key card did not work smoothly. My kids did not have strength to yank down door handle b/c it gets stuck.

          2) Garbage bins only existed in bathroom

          3) Cleaning was not done properly. For an upscale resort, I expected more (like clearing dishes, vacuuming, making beds, replacing towels & toiletry

          4) Make sure you ask for building B which overlooks pool plus you'll be closer. We got D with a view of construction and longer walk to pool (see photos).

          5) Our closet was only partially finished, hence no shelves to store stuff.

          6) Plasma TV/DVD is only in living room. Regular TV's in bedrooms but no CD/DVD players.

          7) Great pool! My kids had fun! But small game room/fitness/playarea.

          8) There is sand area at the other end of pool.

          9) Great location but I would not say you can walk to Walgreens & Publix (like Shoprite) unless you are very fit and willing to schlep stuff back.

          10) 3 bedroom was great size for 7 adults and 2 kids!

All in all it's only a good deal if you can get the promotional rate $200/nt or better for 3 bedrooms. After completion, it's sure to cost a lot more not to mention more crowds!

          Superb value at this time

My daughter's family and my husband and I just returned from four days at Floridays Resort. The location is superb; it's less than ten minutes from Sea World and an easy drive to other theme parks. The pool is fantastic; our grandchildren, aged 5 and 7, didn't even want to go to the water park. They were perfectly happy with the water features for kids in the Floridays pool. As brand new construction, Floridays has a few problems, but the wonderful staff makes up for any shortcomings. They were very helpful, especially when a toilet in our three-bedroom unit started to overflow, accompanied by water shooting up from the bathroom sinks. They quickly gave us a new condo and even allowed my daughter's family to stay in the original unit that night because the kids had already been put to bed. The remaining working bathroom was adequate for them, as long as my husband and I went to the new unit. The next morning everyone moved to the new condo. This one was 69 degrees, and we couldn't change the themostat. A maintenance man arrived within minutes of my request to set it a few degrees higher. The furnishings are beautiful, perhaps too nice to easily withstand the wear and tear of the tourist trade. Also, the interior decorator designed the master bedroom drapes so that they could not be closed. I'm sure all the "bugs" will be worked out, however. The bargain price more than compensated for a few problems. I'm sure the price will go up when all facilities are complete.

Enjoyed my family vacation at Floridays Resort in Orlando

My family and I recently came back from our vacation in Orlando Fl. We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo at Floridays Resort from June 8-12 2006. We arrived a couples of hours before check in time, but were graciously welcomed and allowed to check in early. There was going to be a total of nine people sharing a room which consisted of 4 adults and 5 children. I was a little worried about space and privacy. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor and was told ahead of time there was not much of a view from the window. We opened the doors to a beautifully decorated, oversized, and clean condo. My husband and I totally enjoyed the whirlpool tub in the master bedroom. My nephew enjoyed watching the plasma TV in the living room area, in which he pulled out the sofabed that was new and slept there every night. The 4 other children shared a bedroom that had 2 queen sized beds and a TV also. My sister and her husband had their own bedroom as well. Their was plenty of space. We visited the pool every night and the children loved the water sprayers. The Publix was within walking distance. Seaworld is also very close by as well as Disney and Universal Studios. We totally enjoyed our vacation there and hopefully will return there next year.

I just stayed at Floridays Orlando Resort and it was a fabulous vacation! The resort is still under construction so it seems a bit strange staying there with some of the buildings just being built, but it wasn't a bother at all. We stayed in Building B which is fully completed and it's fabulous. The room was amazing and included everything you could need or want(dishes, pool towels, iron, utensils, pots & pans, full size refrigerator, stove...etc!). I am very picky about toilet paper (as strange as that might be) and towels and both were of great quality. The king size bed in the master bedroom was so comfortable it was hard to get out of bed and head to the parks. The pool is magnificently big and the kiddie section/waterpark was a big hit with all the kids staying at the resort!

Speaking of the parks, they are very close to the resort and it is extremely easy to get to any of them (without the use of I-4 if you prefer). There are many many restaurants around and also a Walgreens & Publix right around the corner.

If you want to stay at luxury resort without paying a luxurious price, Floridays is for you! I know you won't be disappointed! :)

          Floridays in May

We are a family of 5 that were LITERALLY the first guests to stay at this hotel. Although it is under construction, we had a wonderful time. Management was incredible. Accommodations were impeccable, and top of the line in terms of quality. We had a 3 bedroom, 2 bath unit. Entrance was a little difficult to find in the dark, but a GREAT location. Close to everything, yet far enough away from the enormous traffic that surrounds Disney. This condo/hotel is fabulous. Your suite is cleaned, trash taken out, and beds are made on a DAILY basis, unlike renting a condo or a house where you do all the cleaning yourself or have to beg for clean towels!

Pool was terrific, we have a 6 year old, 9 year old and 17 year old. The oldest loved the "man made" beach of sand and the 6 and 9 year olds loved the "spray park." We laughed, it was our private pool. It will really be fun when the bar/restaurant and deli open up. There's even a special play room for babies/toddlers with toys just their size directly overlooking the pool area.

As both this place, and the "Fountains" next door are under construction, you'll not find a nice "quiet" time till after 5:00. Construction starts @7:00 in the morning SIX days a week, so be prepared. If you're early risers you'll have no problem. As we were out and about most of the day, it was really just an issue in the mornings. We like to sleep till about 9:00 when on vacation.

My only complaint was the curtains in the master suite. There are small windows on either side of the bed, with decorative curtains that do not close on them. As a result, the minute the sun came up our room was flooded with sunlight. Perhaps there are additional window treatments that had just not been installed when we arrived, but if you need "dark" to sleep you should inquire about it. All other bedrooms were fine.

I would highly recommend Floridays, and look forward to going back....but will wait until it and the neighboring facility are 100% complete.

          Good value..for now

We just recently returned from a 5 night stay at the new Floridays Resort in Orlando. We cancelled reservations at Cypress Harbour Resort because we got the Floridays Resort $50 per night cheaper. It is a good value right now, however, since it is still under construction, there are some drawbacks. There is nowhere to stroll around the resort or jog. The exercise room does not have tvs which makes excercise very boring. We found the rooms to be quite a bit smaller than some of the timeshare resorts such as Hilton Grand Vacation Club and the Marriott timeshare units and you cannot see fireworks from this resort. Do not recommend a unit on the second floor because when you sit on your very small balcony, your view is of the concrete wall. This is only a problem on the second floor because all other floors have a railing instead of the wall. The furnishings are very nice and maid service provides plenty of thick towels every day. The pool is nice, but no shade. When other buildings open, the pool will be way too small, but hopefully they will have other pools?

The resort is in a great location. All new area close to the parks and Sea World. I would highly recommend this resort for a place to stay while visiting the parks. However, if you are using the resort as a destination to just hang out and swim and shop, you may do better with some of the older resorts. We paid $144 a night, which is a great rate for the nice new unit. Construction noise is just not a problem at all. There are unoccupied buildings between you and the active construction. There is one unattractive lake on the property. It is well worth the opening price, but don't know if I would pay regular price.

          Brand new condo near Disney

I write this as we finish our 6 night stay at Floridays. I was a little leary booking this hotel since it opened its doors exactly 1 month ago. Currently, there is only one building that occupies guests and it will take nearly 2 years before construction is complete. The pool is beautiful, although not huge. We would read at the pool each morning and it was rare to find any other guests using it while we were there. The rooms are beautifully furnished...complete with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, plasma tv in the living room and a tv in each of the bedrooms. The beds were comfortable and best of all, the furnishings were new. No soiled carpets or stinky rooms! The staff here is awesome. We had a few glitches our first day....no telephone book, no garbage cans in the bathrooms, and a door lock that wouldn't lock. The manager immediately moved us to another room and even provided a beautiful gift basket to compensate for our inconvenience. The location is great if you will be staying outside of Disney. A mile or so away you'll find a large outlet shopping complex. Even closer is a Walgreen drug store, Publix supermarket, Subway, McDonalds, etc. It is convenient for getting to Disney and SeaWorld. A 15 minute freeway drive to get to Universal Studios. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are interested in being "off Disney property" and like to stay in a spacious, new property.
