The Tower is Leaning on Me

A travel blog entry by rachaelb12 on Apr 21, 2015

This entry is simply to note that I went to Pisa. To avoid the reservation fee to get to Florence, we took a longer route which took us to Pisa for a quick stop over. We hiked over to the tower, with all our heavy backpacks and everything, got the obligatory picture had some lunch and hopped back on the train. Which was a stresser when it wasn't supposed to be. ... climb (envigorated by a good dose of vitamin D). After a quick intro, we climbed. I enjoyed the experience, and the views (Ellen wouldn't recommend it, was horrified we had to pay €108 for the privilege! But I'm sure Dad would have wanted us to!! ("In" joke with my sisters)). Les had said that he wanted to have a kebab in Pisa. But we settled on a curry!

To be honest, there isn't much at Pisa apart from The Tower and a couple of other structures. It really is a bit of a dump and not worth staying more than the time it takes to visit The Tower.

These were beautiful buildings, though they paled in comparison to the elaborate Florence cathedral and Baptistry, which we had seen a few days earlier. After getting all the required happy snaps, we wandered around trying to find a restaurant that wasn't going to be ...

... we might think.

I was very excited to be walking up the Tower. It has been something I've wanted to see and do ever since we were first introduced way back in year 4.

Walking up a leaning tower is a very cool experience. Everything is a little 'off'. When you look up the centre it's on an angle, the steps are on an angle, even the way you walk is on an angle. Besides from the lean, I found the look ...
