Still in Lucca, we took a day trip to realise one of Grant's childhood ambitions... visiting the leaning tower at Pisa. Even though it's out of season, the traffic was manic and the area full of bumbling tourists (like us) and guides dragging bus loads around. Having said that, the green where the tower, baptistry and cathedral are wasn't too crowded and didn't have any of the street hustlers ...

Whilst the educated one was in The Baptistry, they were treated to a brief musical interlude from one of the staff there. As the building is circular, and the inside of the dome is smooth rising to the pointy bit at the top, the acoustics are very interesting as he ...

... Florence to Pisa was about an hour and a half so we just had a nap until we basically got there.

When we arrived at Pisa we had a local guild who spoke English. She was really nice and explained the history of Pisa in great detail. We had the chance of going up the tower but if we had done that we would of been stuck of time to look around everything else. So we decided against it.

Our guild took us into Pisa's cathedral and explained when it ...
