... the hill. Unfortunately visibility even worse today so after the effort of making our way up the hill we could not even see the water. Great villa's though.
Fast boat back, ferry home and we enter our warm apartment at approx 7pm, in time to cook dinner.
Como, well it is not what we expected, much more suburban. However, glad we came to experience and see how those with lots of money actually holiday.
Moving on to Turin tomorrow, stay ...

      Not so glamorous Bergamo

Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.

We saw that this road would take us there and it looked short and straight. However, the ...

... basically tell where they were up to. I realised this would have been what mass was like before Vatican 2 when the mass was in Latin. We then left to go and tour the roof but my research had let me down as the last tour had left. I think the others were quite pleased to miss out on 236 stairs but the roof tour apparently is pretty amazing.
Us girls went for more shopping but unfortunately only the wealthy can afford much around the Duomo.. ...

      Milano and Terrible Italian Trains

... with no idea where to go, but we manage to make it on the train with 12 minutes to spare which is an eternity in Italian train time, come to find out they are notoriously late.

15 minutes down the track and bad luck is back, as our train stops for no reason in the middle of the country side. 10 minutes later it restarts at a crawl and never gets back up to speed. A couple more unexplained stops, the AC turning off, a few announcement over the speaker system ...
