Although it was an early start, the flight to Nice and subsequent bus trip to Cannes was fairly easy and uneventful. For me, the best part of the festival, besides its location in paradise, was its extremely intimate setting. I could access the red carpet easier than one would imagine, before the paparazzi arrived. Once the stalkers pulled out their long Nikon 80-200mm lens and stood on risers, catching a real glimpse of any star went out the window.
