    ... down the very old broken stairs from level
    one and started progressing towards the bridge. The distance was not far but
    the climb over the bridge is by steps only. Maddi, Tony and Toni dragging

    ... for the travel agent.  Some how the guys got an upgrade and Sophie and I were placed in a rooms wihich the air conditioning wasn't working.....ugh!  Being late when we arrived we ate dinner at our hotel, Hotel Giotto and Spa.  We ate out on an open air terrace and experienced pretty close to authentic Umbrian fare.     ... size-adjust: auto;">Michelangelo was born in 1475 in Caprese. Moved to Citinayno (not sure of spelling) after his mother died when he was six. At 13 he moved back to Florence and started work as apprentice painter. Up to 1492 he lived in the Medici Palace with the family (the descendants of the Pope family, originally family started as bankers in 1300's and became richer and powerful and finally the Dukes that ran the city until 1700's) - obviously a very powerful one.

    ... sidewalks. Now that is only when there is not a car parked thereabouts with two wheels on the sidewalk. Walking in the street may be dangerous if a horse drawn buggy has just gone by.     ... have their dogs with them, so many gorgeous dogs!

    After lunch, we went to the ancient city of Siena, where a local guide took us to the church of San Domenico, as well as the ornate Duomo and the famous Il Campo, where the Paleo horse race is held twice each year. In our free time, we enjoyed a cuppa and home made almond biscotti while we watched the people in the square.

    To get back to the bus,we walked for around 15-20 minutes ...
