Anyone who's followed this blog since the beginning will know that we're fans of the open top bus. A city without an open top bus route is just not a city worth visiting, and this city has 3 routes! Today we opted for the red route which covered mostly the old original city of Dubai. We enjoyed the wind in our hair so much that we missed the stop and had to get a taxi back to Creek Park.

For lunch we broke down and gave into the great temptation that had reared its ugly head the day before when we walked through the mall. 3 camels were waiting to give a ride to anyone who wanted, so of course I did; it was quite dark by now, but who would not enjoy sitting astride a camel with a crocheted muzzle? It was an interesting experience, particularly when the camel levered itself up/down, but I hung on gamely for the short ride - all of 20m!

Now for our high tea at the Ali Hotel, very ritzy lots of gold and water fountains to be seen, the escalator had an aquarium on the each side hard to take photos and watch where you were going all at the same time. Tea was glamorous starting with champagne and continued on with the 5 courses of delicate food, complimented with pots of tea, we couldn't afford more champagne.
