We finally made our way down and were back on the horizontal walking along beside the stream fed by the La Lirre falls a short distance to its intersection with the Rio Cinca. We returned well pleased with the amazing small insight into the lower slopes of these ranges.

... t too bad - still early in the day and a pleasant temperature. Then we had an amazing long descent down beautiful roads - lots of hairpins before coming to the valley floor. We had a relatively long flat stretch then and fortunately, Terry, Dave, Paul and I joined a group who were moving along at a pretty fast pace and were able to work together taking turns to lead. That made it very efficient.

During the night the wind howled around the refuge and the rain pelted the building. In the morning the weather forecast was for showers in the morning with winds up to 80 km per hour, and rain in the afternoon. Not very promising! We discussed descending to the valley with the guardian of the refuge, who told us it would be OK as long as we took care as one section of the track has very slippery rocks. ... looking like a pair of drowned rats. We were happy to hear we could have a 4 minute hot shower using a token, which warmed us up a bit.
