There is a monument to the man Lely who was behind the dyke being built. The dyke is 7m above average sea level and about 30km long. Quite a lot of people driving and cycling across today. We stopped a bit further along to have our lunch on the dyke. Very nice. Next a drive down through Friesland to ...

... which was very good. Almost like a pizza with ham, cheese, mushrooms and arugula. In fact, it was kind of windy and we had to cover the pannenkoeken so that the arugula wouldn't fly off. You can imagine how that got Brian excited envisioning the kiting possibilities...

Instead of kiting, we rented bikes. I got the chance to try an electric bike for the first time. It was awesome. Brian had to work hard to keep up with me ...
