R: After our tasty watermelon for breakfast our rations were done and we needed food but unfortunately most of the Dutch shops are closed on a Sunday and I was informed that the closest supermarkets open were in Ujst (8km) and Sneek (10km). Kat seemed pretty settled so I decided to cycle over, the weather seemed nice and I figured do it before it got too hot. I got to Ujst pretty easily and enjoyed the ride, it is a nice little town with water running through it in all directions and ...

Found the site easily enough even though I had forgotten the address. It was further out of the way than we expected which was nice. The temperature was around 32c when we arrived so we enjoyed laying out in the shade and going for a dip in the murky river. After a bbq we spent the evening sat next to the river and watched the sunset, perfect start to our hols and we stayed in Heeg for 3 ...

We returned to Franeker and the home of Hans and Nieske for a great dinner of Chinese food. Even though we were together for only about 30 hours it was hard to say ...

Another beautiful sunny day saw us cycling out of camp to explore Lake Lauwersoog. Corinne now has a map holder on her bike which we had brought the day before. Confident in our navigational ability we set off down the eastern shoreline. Once again the paths are well prepared and where they are not tarred are concreted they are well graveled......no potholes :).

The ride took us through the farming areas where the ...

... decided to drop by at a massive home improvement center which has a display area of 15Ha. Just because of its sheer size we felt that it would be interesting to visit.
