Long day of travelling today. Set off around 10. Travelled thru Belgium & the Netherlands before arriving in Germany. Only 3 stops required ('mum I need a wee, dad I need a poo, We're HUNGRY!!'). Once again we found sustenance at a cafe called Meat Us. We had burgers, beer and a hummus/pita platter - 'twas a wonderful ...

... this one is that the barge would come into a large "tray" and then the barge, "tray" and water would be lifted 15 metres - with just a 150 horsepower motor! The secret is that there are three large shafts under the "tray" ( 30 metres deep), each with a buoyancy float in the shaft that would make the whole structure almost weight neutral. Very cleaver and built before the Internet existed!

All for now. Take care everyone.
