I had made many a trips to Big Bear during the snowboarding season being that it is really the only place you can do a day trip from Vegas. However a few times we got the luxury of having a place to crash for the night. Only Teresa and I would somehow manage to be able to make a crash pad out of Oscar de la Hoyas Big Bear cabin and training compound. The two of us and usually 15 or so of the worlds best fighters under one roof..... we consider ourselves very lucky ladies :)

We will be moving on to Grand Canyon today and will be camping in a more primitive campground, with no electric hookups. I am sure it will provide us with a whole new experience.
I am totally exhausted after a whole day wandering around the Joshua Tree National Park in the desert heat.
We are camping for the first night in 29 Palms. Woot-woot! We started out the evening great, already cooked and ate out of our van. Ok... it was ...

Going to check out a restaurant called Wang's in the Desert for dinner.
Please bear with me re my boring posts. We have not yet managed to buy cables and adaptors, so cannot quite write so much and upload pics.
Hope to have something tomorrow.
Freedom. Love. Truth. 3 words I can say for my weekend at Bahkti Yoga Festival @ Joshua Tree. The 1st day we were there was hot as hell! The sun drained our energy so we did yoga and crashed out for the night. Woke up to an amazing sunrise outside of our tent amongst the joshua trees. (How did they get the name Joshua anyway?)
We took a class with Shiva Rea who is ...
... to Los Angles go - so as we were enjoying the beach these massive trains flew past.
From Del Mar we went to the next town and had lunch and happened to come across some old London Buses which are used to take people to the Races. Paul took some pictures (of course) and had a little chat with the drivers.
We then took the back roads to Palm Springs rather than the motorway as we thought ...
... the least elevation and got us there without running into snow on the highways. We are nestled in a valley surrounded by hills and mountains. The mountains and hills have been covered in snow. Like elsewhere, an unheard of event. The desert left me gasping with it's stark beauty. I'm so accustomed to the obvious beauty of the ocean and lush forests of the Pacific Coast. Here the beauty is more delicate. It reminds me of when I was ...

Nor had I seen some of the species of cacti they have growing in droves in this park. It was a pretty cool experience, and being by myself was actually ok. I drove with the windows down and great driving music blaring away the whole way from Tempe and throughout the park. I didn't get to see much wildlife, although ...

It turned out I was one junction away from my intended exit, but thanks to the useless road signs I never even knew. Cam across a Denny's Diner and scoffed on a steak before finally reaching the town of Joshua Tree sometime after 9pm. At this point I had no intention of making best use of my new purchse and opted for a motel instead.
