Relaxing week in Tukey after our summer Exams

Stayed here for a Week long Holiday after our university exams, nice place good food, it was an all inclusive resort, with fresh salads and cooked breakfast every morning, dinner ranged from barbe-qued fish to roast meats. organised trips down to the beach everyday and trips to the largets market in Fethiye. Also organised trips and tours around Kayakoyu 'the Ghost Town' altogether a fun relaxing trip cheaply organised by Thomas Cook.

The least Turkish of places (in Turkey)

... was the market alright and I couldn't think of an item that wasn't on sale there!! It took me a good 90mins to walk through it and that was just the clothes!! that didn't include the section on food, spices or shoes and bags!! it was immense!! I managed to buy some long-sleeve clothes for the coming colder days (and places where I need to cover up) for next to nothing... and I had some more pancakes with lemon and sugar ;)

"No rain in Fethiye, Only Sun! Never rain!"

... As soo as we got there, the storm picked up even worse, and we ran into the nearest bar for shelter. It lasted about a beer and a half and must have dropped 10 million gallons of water onto the beach. Fortunately, after the storm the sky opened and it turned into a beautiful day. We strolled along the rocky beach, along with a thousand other tourists--all british. One curious thing about the British--they ...

Strange how everything seems so familiar!

... about doing it with a large backpack. We soon found ourselves hanging on to ropes trying to descend sheer drops.

After the pleasant walk down we thought we would try and make it straight for the waterfall, as the beach seemed a bit crowded with tour boats. Shona doesn't necessarily think the effort for the waterfall was worth it. But we basically had it to ourselves and had a nice little lunch. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing ...

"Too Many Kilograms"

... when he let it sit for two days we were only able to get pilots for 8:30. I think that may have actually been the earliest flight of the day, but we were still thrown for a curve since our boat was set to leave at 10:00, and we didn't want to miss paragliding. Now at least we could be confident that we would get a good paraglide in and not be rushed to the boat, and we could visit Oludyeniz beach, which is one of the prettiest in the Mediterranean. But we wouldn't ...

Dear Turkish Diary

... be enough. Back to Fethiye later that day. Saw a normal-sized girl with the largest breasts I've ever seen in real life. May 14 Laynni left for Istanbul to meet her parents. I took the bus to Koycegiz, and cried the whole way. The guy next to me tried to help but I didn't know how to say "apple of my eye" in Turkish. May 15 Koycegiz is next to a nice lake, very quiet, and very flat. While walking along the waterfront I was passed by a large group ...

quick visit To Kas and onto Fethiye

... was also a load of mezes that were served so again we had a huge pigout.... The building was really old and made of stone - where they stored their wine it was the perfect temperature all year around, the place used to be a prison we found out later... A great setting - there was a field opposite that was covered in poppies, and they had a friendly dog, got a little to friendly at one stage though! We drove back over the ...

Fethiye

... from our path to Syria and but Cappadocia is a place we've wanted to see since we first heard about it. We weren't disappointed . . . it was an incredible landscape of volcanic tuff eroded into fantastic shapes. And almost as incredible is what the ancient Christians did with it. Christians started coming here in the 3rd century to escape persecution and dug out homes which were easily defended, as well as churches and whole towns from the soft stone. You have to see it to believe it.

Hiking the hills to Oludeniz and a ghost town

... at the restaurant of a chalet and camp ground space in the lagoon. Most of us opted for nice juicy burgers although Erkut ordered an equally delicious dish of spicy chicken pasta. Fruit smoothies were real fruit smoothies with no added sugar nor ice-cream, yeah! I was in heaven! From nice cushy lounge tables and chairs, we moved to nice cushy lounge huts for a quick snooze. Then it was time to head back. We walked along the main beach at Oludeniz which was ...
