Big win in Vegas
I'm not much of a gambler as I am far too tight with my money..but it is easier with dollars somehow as the notes don't look real. Anyway, I love Vegas as you can drink for free and play about on the slot machines all night. As long as you bet between 20-50 dollars you are almost guaranteed to win enough to keep playing for a good few hours. My …
Welcome to Sin City!

Hoover Dam and highlights on the Las Vegas Strip
With aching feet and tired legs, I can safely say that the 3 days spent in Vegas were an experience unlike any other!
I wasn't sure what to expect as everyone I'd asked who has been there has their own favourites to share and although I had a few recommendations, in a place like this, everyone is bound to have their own individual …
Vegas
We drove to Vegas from LA and spent a few nights there. Would be amazing to come to Vegas with bottomless pockets! We enjoyed it, but certainly didn't make the most of it. A little bit of gambling, a little bit of eating, a fair bit of walking around seeing ****. We then drove from Vegas to San Diegooooo. Megan

I loved this hotel. I liked how there was a pond full of flamingos and I also really liked the show.

This was my first ever trip to Las Vegas, and being 21 the accommodation was the least of my worries.
First of all the overall impression I got of the hotel, was what I was suspecting from a hotel on the heart of the famous las vegas strip. as I walked in the I found my senses going crazy, lights, sounds, people from all over the world, happy faces from the lucky few that will walk away from Vegas with a profit and the Dull lifeless faces of people who came here looking to go home better off, but the only thing they are going home to is a empty house where he or she partner used to lived.
but i think i'm getting ahead of myself here, when we got to the check in desk, they told us are requested room was not available which didn't give the hotel a good first impression, but the room they did give was with a amazing strip view, so with that view I think I could live going downstairs to smoke a cigarette, they beds where big and clean, and a moderate sized bathroom as I've already mentioned the accommodation wasn't the priority of the trip that was outside on the strip.
But overal I would give the Flamingo hotel a solid 3/5 cheap and cheerful and right in the heat of the strip. Very good hotel if you plan not to spend much time in the hotel

Historical Traveler Reviews Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino
Yuck
Well, we tried the Flamingo in March of 02. 13 of us shared 5 rooms. I felt horrible because I made the arrangements for the group, and I was so embarrassed. None of the rooms were right as far as bed arrangements etc. (as far as what we had reserved) One room had some funky green slime in the tub, (looked like jello) and that room had to be changed completely. None of the sheets in any room fit the beds, and theres nothing more annoying than waking up several times a night with your face on the the bare mattress. YUCK. The bathrooms all had that gross brown drippy stuff and hairs on the ceiling, (they were probably smoking rooms at one point) but it was anyones guess when the last time was that the walls were wiped down. I would never stay there again, even if the rooms were free! Clean is important to me and my family, and these rooms just seemed "unhealthy", you know, the "use at your own risk" kind! I don't recommend the Flamingo, in fact I warn against it!
Expected more
We stayed at the Flamingo for one week last March.I was not impressed compared to most of the hotels in the area. The staff was unfriendly. The food was not good and the hotel needed renovations. The location and the pool were excellent.Right across the road is Ceasars Palace who I believe is owned by the same corporation but there you got treated like gold.If and when we return to Vegas I would rather pay the extra and stay at a class place like Ceasars aqny time
'Second Home'
We arrived at the Flamingo on Christmas Day and stayed for 17 nights. It was our fourth time back in 15 months and our third time at the Flamingo. We were given an Executive Room on the 28th floor with spectacular views of the Strip - fireworks on New Years Eve were amazing. We have always found the staff very friendly and helpful and we love the facilities - not too big to get lost! We are planning our next trip back - can't wait!!
Flamingo hilton,Unfriendly staff
Stayed at Flamingo Jan-26-30-03, nice hotel, gardens and penguins were great.
Check in staff very impolite and did not seem to give a damn. Paradise garden restaurant for supper---Avoid not worth the 16.00 thats for sure. Night of the 29 around midnight, must have been 200 people in lobby waiting to check in--only 3 check in clerks, poor bastards sat there for 2 hours to get a room, thats what i call poor service..
Great bargain and location
Great bargain for anyone visiting Las Vegas. The
location is fabulous, the prices are very fair, and
the quality of the rooms, pool, casino etc. is way
above average. We stayed there twice (2001 and 2002) and liked it each time.
The only minor quibble is that the restuarants
inside the Flamingo were not as nice or varied as
in the neighboring resorts (Paris, Caesars..) but
that just gave us a reason to get out more.
Parking (free) was a bit tight on weekend evenings
but no problem any other time. Would definitely
stay here again.
Great pool!
I thought the Flamingo was a decent choice, especially for the money I paid (very little!). The room was ugly with old furnishings, but clean, & I had a nice view. I didn't find the food in the restaurants very good. The atmosphere was friendly and bustling and the location was central, but the place is not as hip, sleek or happening as some of the other places I walked through.
The best thing, though: the pool! Very big and pretty and nice and relaxing. It was worth it just for the pool!
Stayed there many times
Having stayed at the Flamingo many times over the years, I can say that I have never not enjoyed the Flamingo. The location is perfect and I love all the restaurants. The staff is always very nice and helpful and room service is great. The rooms are spacious and clean and I usually try to get a room facing the strip. Fantastic view. I also found the slot machines to be very liberal. Will definitely stay there again in the near future. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. I've stayed at many hotels in Vegas but none beat the Flamingo for the price.
OK choice in a fab location
The Flamingo is an OK place to stay in a location that can't be beat - center-strip across from Bally's, Caesars, Bellagio and the Mirage.
It's a huge spectacle in its own right, with 3,600 rooms, a fantastic tropical pool area, penguins, flamingos and a big, lively casino.
But the rooms are below average for Vegas - relatively small in size with teeny bathrooms. Plus, on my April 2002 visit the carpeting and the furniture looked worn and tired. So was the decor.
The restaurants in the Flamingo are pretty average. The buffet is hardly the best in town.
It's a fine place to stay at a good price, but you'll probably spend your time eating across the street.
Excellent location!!
It was a great, relatively inexpensive hotel! Location was perfect for walking the strip. Our room was spacious and clean, maids were great- if we had a "do not disturb" sign on the door when they came, they would call & ask what time they should come back. Excellent view into the pool area.
Our check in experience was quite slow however, and they told us Sunday's were even worse. We learned after the fact that Flamingo has an airport check-in in the main baggage claim area, recommend trying that!
Loved the hotel over all, gorgeous pool area, but it was VERY crowded on the weekend.
They don't have much in the way of shops or attractions, but we spent most of our time in the other hotels anyways.
We ate at the Deli for a quick lunch one day and it was delicous. Didn't get around to trying any of their other resteraunts.
I would definatley stay there again because it was a good location & good price. They also gave us a coupon book when we checked in that had some great buy one get one things for Flamingo, Caesars, Paris, and Bellagio (they're all owned by the same people). Have fun in Vegas....it was awesome!!
Flamingo good for the money, penguins even better
I'd read mixed reviews of The Flamingo, so I didn't really know what to expect either way.
On the whole, it was a good experience. The staff were very friendly when we checked in and the room was clean and spacious. The location was fantastic, right in the thick of things, with happy hour 4 to 7pm in the bar.
We enjoyed the pool area, but in the day it got very crowded. There was no restricting it to hotel guests only like some of the other big hotels do, and I suspect numbers were padded out by those whose hotel didn't have a pool! This was the only concern we had, but for a short stay it didn't present much of a problem as we were too busy checking out the Strip and gambling away our money.
And of course, we loved the penguins! I was worried about such a species living in the middle of a desert but they seemed well cared for and happy enough - once I found out they were a breed that thrives in warmer climes!
