... 90 minutes before the bus actually left. Mombasa is only 400km from Nairobi but our bus was stopping on average every 10 minutes to pick up/drop off people so it was turning out to be a very long winded trip. What didn't help was the girl sitting in front of us vomited all over the floor and then the vomit proceeded to slosh up and down the bus, nasty. We arrived into Mombasa at 5pm and quickly grabbed a taxi to bring us down the coast to our final destination ...

... a 14 person plus driver minivan that hurtles round dirt roads at all manner of angles / speeds / precariousness, usually with about 20 + passengers and a few hanging out the side as well - it's a weird experience having a conversation with people who are clinging onto the side of an open van as you occupy your 20cm of space - especially seeing as everyone shakes hands here on greeting. No one has fallen off yet though, so that's good.<br ...

... and it is more of a creek that leads into the sea, if you look over the creek to the right about a quarter of a mile away where some very fine boats are harbored you can just about make out the tourists lounging on their sun loungers; no doubt giving thanks they ended up that side of the pond and not mine! It's so unfair I thought; that was always me - what the hell am I doing here on the wrong side of the creek!! Then I recalled how bored I ...

... of garbage that cows and goats are 'grazing' from. - goats do belong to people, but wander around free because they are protected from being stolen by magic (side note: chickens are not protected by this same magic - not sure about the cow situation). - Muslim call to prayer that is played out over loud speakers 5 times a day, starting at 5am. We have two Mosques very close to our house so I think sometimes they are having a competition to ...

Amboseli in the Shadow of the Mighty Kilimanjaro

... told us how palm trees came to be inland in Kenya. Originally, palms were only on the coast. In fact, so were elephants--as little as 20 years ago, you could see elephants cavorting in the ocean. As the elephants were driven inland by people because the coast is prime real estate, the elephants carried seeds from the coconuts they'd eaten and the seeds were distributed inland via the ellies "poo-poo". The Africans we saw in Kenya were makedly different than those we saw in Cape ...

... from their first aid kit. While walking out the busy dining area, my kikoi decided to fall to my ankles, typically when my hands were full. I lifted it up as quickly as I could, only to realise it had rolled up and was now only useful as a belt! So everyone was treated to my bright lily-white ass, and the poor old guy in front of me was trying his best not to look at my ******, which was practically in his face! There was a huge motorcycle rally being held and ...
