      Felling flowers

A travel blog entry by roundaboutus on Apr 11, 2015

I pulled on thick protective trousers, zipped up the back, my hot black anorak, the straps and thick chainsawing gloves...brush cutting here we come. I love the repetitive swing of the machine, it's high pitched whine and the satisfaction of felling triffids! Aubons (porrasa) are about 4' high. A strong fleshy stalks sprout from long green leaves and explode with white flowers. The dried stems can be used to create ...

We've just celebrated Easter, with a fast amount of food! Three things seem important here. Gigantic platters of lamb, thick walled pastries and family. I was lucky enough to be invited to join my friend Seb's family. The interior a cross between ...

... have enjoyed self catering with delicious Serrano ham, cheese and rock solid loaves! On Saturday I joined Sarah's French friend Sophie for 3hrs of Senegalese dancing which made us laugh as much as we moved, stretching high and thumping our heels down on the floor, "Ka, Ka, Ka,Ka!". The yoga space we used looked out over the valley, bisected by the motorway, which was beautiful and thankfully non reflective! In the evening I bobbed over with Laura (usa) and Susie (UK) and ...

      The first day of Spring....

... decked out with bottle green shutters and succulents in flower pots. It was freezing, a sneaky cold wind froze everyone, but a fair few intrepid tourists were there and a warm 'coco de potatas' sprinkled with icing sugar from a cosy bakery helped me to thaw. I sketched, slapping on loose watercolour and doodling freely over the top. Joseph Coll Blandecot exhibition was vigorous, free flowing colour and marks, loosened by 30 years in the studio. His landscapes ...
